In today’s world, the demand for sustainable third-party reverse logistics providers (S3PRLPs) becomes an increasingly considerable issue for industries seeking improved customer service, cost reduction and sustainability perspectives. However, the assessment and selection of right S3PRLP is a complex uncertain decision-making problem due to involvement of numerous conflicting attributes, imprecise human mind and lack of information. Recently, Fermatean fuzzy set (FFS) has been recognized as one of the suitable tools to tackle the uncertain and inaccurate information. In this paper, we introduce a hybrid methodology based on CRITIC and EDAS methods with Fermatean fuzzy sets (FFSs) to solve the S3PRLP selection problem in which the attributes and decision makers’ weights are completely unknown. In this framework, CRITIC approach is applied to calculate the attribute weight and EDAS method is used to evaluate the priority order of S3PRLP options. To do this, a new improved generalized score function (IGSF) is developed with its elegant properties. Also, a formula is discussed to calculate the decision makers’ weights based on the developed IGSF. Next, developed framework is applied to assess a case study of S3PRLP selection problem with Fermatean fuzzy information, which elucidates the usefulness and practicality of the proposed method. Finally, comparative study is implemented to show the strength of introduced framework with extant approaches. The outcomes of the work confirm that the introduced approach is more feasible and well-consistent with the other extant approaches.

Nowadays the complex international political situation has caused the shortage of coal supply in the European region. Scholars have done a lot of research on supplier evaluation. However, these studies don’t reflect the variability of the indicators, such as interruption caused by recent war. Coal-electricity-integrated companies have a large demand for thermal coal and high requirements for stable supply, so they need to conduct timely and effective short-term evaluation of suppliers. This paper improves the CRITIC method and uses short-term transaction data for a coal-electricity-integrated firm to evaluate its coal suppliers. The results show that the improved CRITIC method effectively avoids the problem of weight changes caused by conflicting value ranges of indicators, and its evaluation results are more consistent with the actual situation, which can meet the requirements of large coal enterprises for evaluating suppliers.

The Pythagorean fuzzy set is an extension of the traditional fuzzy set which offers an effective approach to addressing the complex uncertainty in decision-analysis processes, making it applicable across a broad spectrum of applications. Given the limitations of available facts, decision experts often face challenges in precisely defining the grades of belongingness (BG) and non-belongingness (NG) using crisp values. In such situations, opting for interval-valued belongingness and non-belongingness grades proves to be a suitable choice. This work uses the notion of power aggregation operators through Schweizer and Sklar (SS) operations to build aggregation operators for interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy (IVPF) sets. This paper introduces several aggregation operators within the IVPF framework, such as the IVPF SS power weighted average operator, the IVPF SS power geometric operator, and the IVPF SS power average operator. The existence of SS t-norms and t-conorms in the IVPF framework for addressing multi-attribute decision-making problems gives the generated operators the ability to make the information aggregation approach more adaptable compared to other current ones. The application of the proposed approach holds the potential to enhance crop yield, optimize resource utilization, and contribute to the overall sustainability of agriculture. Additionally, sensitivity and comparative analyses are provided to clarify the stability and dependability of the results acquired through this approach.
