<span>Women have progressed a lot in terms of social empowerment and economics. They are going for higher education, jobs, and many other similar endeavors, but harassment cases have also been on the rise. So, women’s safety is a big concern nowadays, especially in developing countries. Many previous studies and attempts were made to create a feasible safety solution for women. Out of various features to ensure women’s safety in critical situations, location tracking is a very common and key feature in most previously proposed solutions. This study found mechanisms of sending the location to different types of recipients in various women safety solutions. In addition, the advantages and drawbacks of location sending methods in women's safety solutions were analyzed.</span>

A Systematic Review of Computer Science Solutions for Addressing Violence Against Women and Children

Violence against women and children are public health issues of pandemic proportions. It is estimated that one in every three women worldwide have experienced physical, emotional or sexual violence. Similarly, each year one of two children are victims of some form of violence, including domestic aggression and bullying. Due to the widespread use of the Internet and social media, women and children are also now vulnerable to other types of violence such as cyber-bullying and online sexual or emotional harassment. To help alleviate these social problem, the use of computer sciences and related technologies has been leveraged in recent years. The Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, ubiquitous and mobile computing, pattern recognition, cloud computing, and similar technologies have been used to formulate solutions to detect and prevent violent acts. In this paper, a systematic review of some of the efforts that can help address the problem of violence against women and children is presented. This paper describes the current state-of-the-art of these contributions and identifies trends, architectures, technologies, and current open challenges. The survey was developed using a literature review of academic documents published from 2010 to 2020. The contributions were categorized in four application domains: online detection, offline detection, safety and education. Additionally, these contributions were further categorized based on the computer science approaches and technologies used: artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and digital serious games.

Now-a-days, the public, mostly women and children are facing much harassment from the societies. The unlawful activities against ladies and children have been increasing significantly, and regularly we find out about eve-teasing, sexual assault cases, and attempt to molest or even killing after rape in public places or open areas. Also, many cases had gone unwarranted due to short pieces of evidence. In Bangladesh, the current statistics of sexual assaults and various unlawful activities are proliferating. To acknowledge these problems, in this paper, we have designed an IoT-based (Internet of Things) embedded device that is able to communicate with the law enforcement agency by dialing "999" (An Emergency Telephone Number in Bangladesh) on demand. The device contains Arduino Pro-Mini Microcontroller with a GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) module and can send SMS (short message service) with the victim's present area to the law enforcement agency and relatives via GPRS (General Packet Radio Services). The proposed device's form factor is too tiny to carry out easily at anywhere and anytime. The device features the "Plug & Play" functionalities, which means one button to operate the entire device. Also, the device is costeffective so that people of every level can afford it at a reasonable price.
