Interfacial waves between piezoelectric and piezomagnetic half-spaces with magneto-electro-mechanical imperfect interface

Abstract: International audienceWe study the propagation of shear horizontal waves between the interface of piezoelectric and piezomagnetic half-spaces with a magneto-electro-mechanical imperfect contact. Mechanical, electrical and magnetical imperfections are modelled by means of a spring, a capacitor and a inductor, respectively. A general expression for the dispersion relation not reported previously in literature is given in an explicit form, with the diverse limit cases analysed in detail. In some of these limit ca… Show more

“…Shi et al (2014) addressed the coupling between mechanical and electric imperfections in a particulate composite in their latest work. The existence of such couplings has been pointed out by Otero et al (2012Otero et al ( , 2013 recently, but the interfacial imperfection formulation employed by them is still an uncoupled model that is the same as those adopted by Fan et al (2006), Shodja et al (2007) and Sun et al (2011). Otero et al (2012Otero et al ( , 2013 declared that they have considered the couplings of the interfacial imperfections.…”

But in fact they are the couplings in the two half-planes on both sides of the interface, which are brought into the interfacial imperfection formulations just due to the introduction of the auxiliary functions.…”

“…In this sense, the GLSM only represents a special case of the imperfect interface in such kind of smart composites. Up till now, the interfacial imperfection couplings have been seldom studied [24,25]. To our knowledge, only Shi et al [26] have dealt with the coupling between mechanical and electric imperfections in the interfaces of a particulate piezoelectric composite in their latest work.…”

“…Most papers in the literature assumed that the jumps in the elastic displacement, the electric potential and the magnetic potential across the interface were decoupled from one another in , that is, they assumed that b̲, c̲, g̲, h̲, s , and d in are null quantities. Only a few papers such as Otero et al . and Shi et al .…”
