Introduction: Patients with chronic renal disease treated by haemodialysis experience various changes in their daily lives, which they and their families need to adapt to and cope with.Objective: To analyse the nursing care of patients with chronic renal failure on haemodialysis who experience clinical complications. Method:A descriptive, exploratory study was conducted, using a quantitative approach. Data collection was performed using a sample of 73 patients at the Hemodialysis Center located at city of Patos-PB. The sample comprised 73 patients.Results: 27 (37.0%) were female, aged between 20 and 88 years old.It was found that employees are 49.3% of respondents, in consonance to farmers with 31.5%. The most common complications were weakness (76.7%), headache (46.6%), cramp (43.8%) and pain (32.9%). Conclusion:The trusting relationship between professionals and patients is paramount, because helps to improve adherence to treatment and, consequently, the reduction of complications; furthermore, educational and preventive actions are facilitated.

RESUMO: Objetivou identificar as complicações em pacientes renais crônicos submetidos à hemodiálise e correlacioná-las aos fatores sociodemográficos e clínicos. Estudo transversal, com 200 pacientes em uma clínica de nefrologia no Nordeste do Brasil. Utilizou-se um formulário para a coleta de dados, que ocorreu durante março e abril de 2015. Na análise inferencial, foram aplicados testes de Qui-Quadrado e Exato de Fisher, e U de Mann-Whitney, na associação entre variáveis nominais e numéricas. As associações estatísticas foram: hipotensão com idade, sexo e ganho de peso interdialítico; calafrios com sexo e ganho de peso interdialítico; vômito com sexo, sítio de diálise e KT/V; cefaleia com sexo e idade; tontura com anos de estudo, religião e ganho de peso interdialítico; arritmia e idade; diarreia e tempo de hemodiálise; dor abdominal e ganho de peso interdialítico; sudorese e idade. Conclui-se que complicações durante a hemodiálise podem sofrer influência de fatores sociodemográficos e clínicos. COMPLICAÇÕES EM PACIENTES RENAIS CRÔNICOS SUBMETIDOS COMPLICATIONS IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE UNDERGOING HEMODIALYSIS*ABSTRACT: The present study aimed to identify complications in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis and correlate them to socio-demographic and clinical factors. Cross-sectional study with 200 patients conducted in a nephrology clinic in the Northeast of Brazil. Data was collected in March and April 2015 through a structure questionnaire completed by the participants. Chi-square and Fisher's Exact tests were performed in inferential analysis, and Mann-Whitney U test was used to assess the relationship between categorical (nominal) and numerical variables. The statistically significant associations were hypotension with age, gender and interdialytic weight gain; chills with gender and interdialytic weight gain; vomiting with gender, dialysis site and Kt/V; headache with gender and age; dizziness with years of schooling, religious belief and interdialytic weight gain; arrhythmia and age; diarrhea and length of time on dialysis treatment; abdominal pain and interdialytic weight gain; sweating and age. It is concluded that complications during hemodialysis can be affected by socio-demographic and clinical factors.

Objective: to analyze the quality of life of people with chronic kidney disease. Methods: cross-sectional, descriptive study with people undergoing hemodialysis. Data collection was performed with 105 participants. The Kidney Disease and Quality-of-Life Short-Form was used. Data were analyzed using mean, median and standard deviation. Results: the sample was predominantly male, older than 60 years and did not work. Work Status and Physical Function were the most affected quality of life dimensions, with averages of 14.76 and 43.1, respectively. The Cognitive Function and the Sexual Function presented the best results, with averages of 86.41 and 86.56. Conclusion: chronic kidney disease and hemodialysis treatment interfere with the individuals' quality of life, bringing greater losses in the work status and physical function, and better repercussion in the domains pain, social function, cognitive function and sexual function. Métodos: estudo transversal, descritivo com pessoas em hemodiálise. A coleta de dados foi realizada com 105 participantes e utilizou-se o instrumento Kidney Disease and Quality-of-Life Short-Form. Os dados foram analisados utilizando-se média, mediana e desvio padrão. Resultados: a amostra foi composta predominantemente pelo sexo masculino, idade acima de 60 anos e que não exercem atividade laboral. Situação de trabalho e Função Física foram as dimensões de qualidade de vida mais afetadas, com médias de 14,76 e 43,1, respectivamente. A Função Cognitiva e Função Sexual apresentaram melhores resultados, com média 86,41 e 86,56. Conclusão: a doença renal crônica e o tratamento hemodialítico interferem na qualidade de vida dos indivíduos, com maiores prejuízos nas dimensões de situação de trabalho e função física e melhor repercussão nos domínios dor, função social, função cognitiva e função sexual.
