Soybean (Glycine max (L) Merr.) planted in land space among stands of other crops especially forest trees experience shading stress due to less sunlight penetration. The objective of the study was to identify the performance and yield stability of soybean genotypes in various shading environments. Field research was conducted in 2018 on 15 soybean genotypes consisted of 12 promising soybean lines and three check varieties (Dena 1, Dena 2, and Grobogan) in 10 shading environments (cassava, maize, orange, teak, eucalyptus, oil palm, and no shading). Randomized block design and repeated four times was used in each location. Result of the study showed that the response of the genotypes to grain yield was significantly difference in each environment or location. Stability of genotypes were grouped into 3, namely 1 genotype classified as unstable and recommended for less optimal environments, 6 genotypes (5 promising lines and 1 check variety) which were classified as stable and adaptive in 10 test locations, and 8 genotypes (6 promising lines and 2 check varieties) classified as unstable in 10 test locations. Based on seed yield and yield components average, one line (Grob/Pander-395-2) had a high average seed yield (1.84 tha-1), high seeds weight per plant (14.8 g), high weight of 100 seeds (21.6 g), and stable in 10 location (indicated by non significant both regression coefficient and regression deviation). Therefore, Grob/Pander-395-2 could be recommended for being grown in shading environments across the country.

Buncis tegak (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) berpotensi ditanam di dataran rendah dan menjadi tanaman sela, akan tetapi terkendala suhu tinggi dan intensitas cahaya rendah di bawah naungan yang mempengaruhi pertumbuhan tanaman. Tujuan penelitian adalah memperoleh informasi pertumbuhan dan hasil buncis tegak terkait adaptasinya terhadap naungan. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Pusat Kajian Hortikultura Tropika (PKHT) IPB, ketinggian tempat 250 m dpl, dari bulan Oktober 2019 hingga Januari 2020. Percobaan menggunakan rancangan petak tersarang dua faktor dengan empat ulangan. Faktor pertama tiga taraf naungan, yaitu 0, 25, dan 50%. Faktor kedua buncis tegak varietas Balitsa 2, Balitsa 3, dan buncis rambat Lebat 3 sebagai pembanding. Hasil menunjukkan ketiga varietas buncis baik tipe pertumbuhan tegak maupun rambat dapat ditanam di bawah naungan dengan naungan terbaik 25%. Tanaman buncis di bawah naungan 25% mampu mempertahankan jumlah daun, jumlah cabang, mempercepat umur berbunga, dan mempertahankan komponen hasil tetap optimal. Naungan pada buncis tegak meningkatkan tinggi tanaman dan diameter batang sehingga resiko rebah menurun. Varietas buncis tegak terbaik yang dapat tumbuh di dataran rendah adalah Balitsa 3 karena tanaman lebih tinggi, diameter batang besar, jumlah daun dan cabang lebih banyak, berbunga lebih cepat, serta komponen hasil besar. Increasingly limited land in the high elevation and increasing of global temperature needed breeding of cauliflower plants originating from temperate regions to be adaptively planted in low elevation. This study aimed to identify the morphological variability and yield component of cauliflower planted in the high elevation and low elevation. The experiment was conducted in Pasir Sarongge (1,117 m asl) and Tajur II (340 m asl) from June to December 2016. This experiment was conducted with a randomized complete block design single-factor (12 genotypes of cauliflower) with three replications. The results showed that BOB 021 genotype was not flowering in Tajur. Qualitative characteristics that are stable in two locations include leaf attitude, leaf color, curd color, leaf lobing, and curd covering by inner leaves. Vegetative characters and yields in low elevation were higher than high elevation, time of flowering and harvesting in high elevation was earlier than in low elevation. Based on the correlation analysis, an increase in the yield characters can be seen from the increase in vegetative character and increase in longevity time of flowering and harvesting.
