“…Liver crude fat content in birds fed the control diet (29.59%) was higher ( P < 0.001) than in birds fed FFF- diet (16.49%). The export of large amounts of protein and lipid into eggs during the laying period is a metabolic challenge for reproducing fowl ( Bain et al., 2016 , Akbari Moghaddam Kakhki., 2019a , Akbari Moghaddam Kakhki., 2019b ). Although none of the treatments surpassed the threshold (>35% liver crude fat) required to be classified as fatty liver hemorrhagic syndrome, the potential risk with feeding high energy diets is still a concern ( Squires and Leeson, 1988 , Robinson and Kiarie, 2019 ).…”

“…Dietary Ca at 3.22, 4.10, and 2.38% at each period was sufficient to maintain the eggshell quality of hens throughout this study. Others had reported decreased eggshell thickness and breaking strength when fed 3% Ca in older Lohmann LSL-Lite layers aged 74 to 81 wk ( Akbari Moghaddam Kakhki et al., 2019 ), possibly due to Ca absorption being inefficient in aged laying hens ( Bronner, 1987 , Pelicia et al., 2009 ). Although 1,200 FTU phytase/kg in the NC diet increased SG, it did not increase the eggshell thickness or breaking strength relative to the NC diet.…”

“…At 42 WOA, birds were weighed and then palpated for tibia and keel bone sampling. Hens with a hard eggshell in the shell gland were chosen as described by Akbari Moghaddam Kakhki et al. (2018a) .…”
