Interactions of Gibberellins with Phytohormones and Their Role in Stress Responses

Abstract: Gibberellins are amongst the main plant growth regulators. Discovered over a century ago, the interest in gibberellins research is growing due to their current and potential applications in crop production and their role in the responses to environmental stresses. In the present review, the current knowledge on gibberellins’ homeostasis and modes of action is outlined. Besides this, the complex interrelations between gibberellins and other plant growth regulators are also described, providing an intricate netw… Show more

“…Fundamental molecular aspects of GA synthesis, homeostasis, and signaling have been described in the last years, although several issues concerning transport or interactions with other phytohormones are still not fully elucidated [ 17 ]. GAs are acid diterpenoids derived from the terpenes route.…”

“…Balance between the activity of these different types of enzymes determines the GA content in plants, thus establishing these oxidases as the main targets for the GA regulation exerted by other compounds, genes, or phytohormones. However, a more detailed view of GA synthesis and homeostasis was recently reviewed [ 17 ].…”

“…Gibberellins are growth phytoregulators that regulate seed germination, root and stem growth, and leaf and fruit senescence [38]. DPM17, as a PGPB, produced 1.37 µg mL −1 gibberellin, which is apparently higher than that (0.002-015 µg mL −1 ) reported previously [39,40].…”

“…Plant hormones mediate the plant growth and nutrient (including Se) absorption (Peleg and Blumwald, 2011). For instance, gibberellic acid (GA) promotes the photosynthesis, vegetative growth, and fruit development of crops (CastroCamba et al, 2022). GA can regulate the crop growth and promote the nutrient absorption (Hassan and Mansoor, 2017;Zhang et al, 2020).…”
