Interaction of Vasopressins and Linear N‐Terminal ACTH Fragments in the Induction of Natriuresis

Abstract: dbstrad. Because 8) D mixture of alpha-melanotropin (MSH) and cortimtropin (l-l3)-tridecapeptide (1-13 ACTH) haa apparently been isolated from natriuretic fractions of posterior pituitary which also contained inine-vaeopreaein, fraction waa greater than that of any of the above three peptidee (eynthetic) given separately, possible interaction was etudied with model eubstancea in the chloraloeed cat preparation. It waa found that with both alpha-MSH and lysine-vasopressin, extracted samples were more natriureti… Show more

“…However, the role of other ACTH fragments in the regulation of food intake and body weight is not clear. More emphasis has been given to the effect of these fragments on insulin secretion [12], cardiovascular [13], renal [14], human mental performance [15] and imprinting behaviour [16] and other CNS indications [17].…”

“…There are, however, wide variations in different response sensitivities. Thus, for example, single 10-13mol/kg doses are antidiuretic in most species, IO-llmol/kg doses begin to be pressor (10,38) and mol/kg doses begin to be natriuretic (10,13). Quite naturally, the higher the sensitivity of the response, the greater the physiological importance 'Address: Institute of Physiology, Academy of Sciences, Prague.…”
