Interaction of triplet silicon difluoride with paramagnetic molecules

Abstract: Recoil ,lSi atom reactions with PF, resulted in the formation of both singlet and triplet ,lSiFz in the ratio 1.0: 3.5 where the triplet species was found to interact with paramagnetic molecules forming 31SiF,donor complexes towards buta-lJ3-diene.

“…238 The generation of SiF 2 by nuclear recoil techniques has allowed the production of truly monomeric SiF 2 in both singlet and triplet states. 239 ' 240 Thus, 31 Si recoil atoms react with PF 3 to yield SiF 2 in a singlet/triplet ratio of 1:3.5. 239 The singlet species reacts with 1,3-butadiene to yield a metallocycle, while the triplet reacts by indirect means through radical pathways.…”
