“…Spectra of secondary particles generated in tissue by the fast neutron beam of the MRC Hammersmith cyclotron have been kindly provided to us (Dr. John A. Dennis, private communication, 1971). Bach and Caswell (1968) and Caswell and Coyne (1972) have calculated secondary charged particle spectra generated in tissue by monoenergetic neutrons in the range 60 keV to 2 MeV and for 14 MeV neutrons, and also kindly provided us with their results (Dr. Randall S. Caswell, private communication, 1972). The neutron programs, originally developed by Ms. Rose Anne RothKrauter for the IBM mainframe (Rose Ann Krauter, "The Sigma Integration," UN-L, Lincoln, NE 1977, unpublished) have been adapted to run on the IBM PC/XT microcomputer.…”

“…The secondary particle spectrum from the irradiation of tissue with 14 MeV neutrons is available from the work of Caswell and Coyne (1972). The spectrum for the capture of negative pions is calculated by Guthrie, Alsmiller, and Bertini (1968).…”

“…of Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells after sequential irradiations with 60 Co gamma-rays and D-T (14 MeV) neutrons, in which the fraction, , of the total dose, delivered by gamma-rays, ranged from 0 to 1. We apply the theory by making use of the spectrum of secondary charged particles from the interaction of 14 MeV neutrons in tissue, from Caswell and Coyne (1972), and radiosensitivity parameters for human kidney cells evaluated from survival data obtained after irradiation with X-rays and heavy ion beams from the HILAC accelerator by Todd (1967).…”
