Background: The United States (US) is currently facing a public health crisis due to the percentage of obesity in adolescents. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) stated the risks for children due to obesity are many. Adolescents obtain a large portion of their daily caloric intake at school; therefore, what foods/drinks they are consuming is so serious. Objective: To identify and analyze literature on the effects of competitive foods in public schools on adolescent weight, or Body Mass Index (BMI), and possible impacts they may have on adolescent obesity in the United States. Methods: An integrative systematic review of literature was conducted. The literature was collected in CINAHL, MEDLINE and EMBASE databases. Refined keyword search is further detailed in the report. Year restrictions were 2006–2017 from peer-reviewed journals and published in English, including adolescents 13–18 years old in the US. Criteria for inclusion targeted at least one of (1) sugar-sweetened beverages (SSB), (2) competitive foods, (3) commercial foods, (4) vending machines, (5) al a carte venues, and (6) school stores, examining their associations with weight measurements, using either weight or BMI, or caloric intake analysis. Results: A total of 164 articles were detected and assessed, for a final analysis of 34 full text articles. Twenty-six articles met the inclusion criteria. Common aspects of interest involved BMI/Obesity/Weight (73%), (58%) examined Calorie density or consumption, (77%) discussed the Availability of competitive foods in schools, (54%) included Analysis of competitive food, beverage and nutrition policies, and (69%) addressed Other effects. Conclusion: This review discovered substantial evidence that competitive foods are highly available in schools, however, lacking in robust evidence proving causality in increasing BMI or weight. There is strong corroboration in the research revealing that Other effects are factors worthy of studying further. Additional longitudinal and higher-quality research needs to be performed.

Nursing Interventions For The Prevention Of Foot Ulcers In Patients With Diabetes: An Integrative Review

Objective: This study aims to perform a literature review of nursing interventions for ulcer prevention in patients with diabetic foot.Method: This is an integrative review which included studies from BDENF, LILACS, IBECS, CINAHL and PubMed databases, as well as the virtual library SCIELO without time restriction. Results:The authors identified fifteen articles that met the study criteria. Nursing interventions for ulcer prevention in diabetic foot were performed both individually and on a collective basis, or as combination. The huge majority of interventions were done in institutional programs for health promotion. Conclusion:The current evidence demonstrates the importance of health education as a tool in diabetic foot and lower extremities amputation prevention. This type of education increases patient's awareness of their own disease and help them to develop skills for self-care and better lifestyle.

Acompanhamento em programas de saúde auditiva infantil: Uma revisão integrativa

O diagnóstico da perda auditiva no Brasil é tardio. Um dos fatores que pode explicar este fato, mesmo diante de inúmeros programas de triagem auditiva implementados, pode ser a evasão das famílias, não concluindo a avaliação auditiva da criança. Objetivou-se descrever como vem sendo conduzido o acompanhamento audiológico nos Programas de Saúde Auditiva Infantil do Brasil, especialmente em relação aos exames realizados, adesão das famílias ao acompanhamento audiológico e ações educativas desenvolvidas. Realizou-se uma revisão integrativa da literatura, cuja pergunta norteadora foi: como vem sendo conduzido o acompanhamento audiológico nos Programas de Saúde Auditiva Infantil do Brasil? Levantamento nas seguintes bases de dados: Lilacs, Medline, IBECS e CidSaúde, utilizando combinações entre os termos “acompanhamento”, “audição” e “triagem neonatal”. Inicialmente, os 1130 artigos encontrados foram triados por títulos e resumos. Foram lidas na íntegra as 21 publicações pré-selecionadas por título e resumo, constatando-se que 12 artigos respondiam a pergunta desta revisão. Os exames para triagem auditiva e acompanhamento audiológico mais utilizados foram Emissões Otoacústicas e Potencial Evocado Auditivo de Tronco Encefálico, além de avaliação comportamental, timpanometria e reflexos acústicos. Três estudos referiram a presença de ações educativas nos programas e apenas um deles especificou os profissionais que as realizaram, sendo o profissional enfermeiro o que mais efetuou estas atividades. O percentual de famílias que aderiram ao acompanhamento variou consideravelmente. Acredita-se ser interessante observar recomendações de entidades locais e internacionais para realização do acompanhamento audiológico, buscando um padrão de qualidade e efetividade nos programas e a qualidade da avaliação audiológica.
