monitored. Participants' confidence was monitored with questionnaires. Observer checklists were analysed in crossdepartmental meetings looking for solutions. QI aims were categorised into efficiency, patient safety and reducing wastage. Results A total of 9 SPRinT courses and 8 PDSA cycles were completed between 2012 and 2018, with 74 participants. Feedback forms suggest realism of the scenario's environment and stress level were 82% (IQR 70-90%) and 80% (IQR 65-90%) respectively. Latent threats were identified resulting in 7 significant QI projects (figure 1). Time for emergency blood administration improved from 6.15 mins to 2.0 mins (reduction of 2/3rds). Discussion/Conclusion Over 3 years of simulation-based PDSA we have overhauled our Major Blood Loss Protocol (figure 1), resulting in increased participant confidence and reduced time to initial blood transfusion. QI projects have included tackling systems issues such as a lack of overnight access to an outlying site, providing improved resources eg a cordless phone for Bloodbank. The iterative simulation process was used to improve our Major Blood Loss Protocol by combating latent threats, and for staff training. The time to resolve major QI issues was greatest for estates issues (4 years) followed by additional resources (1 year) and training (6 months) (table1). We have shown that with targeted in-situ simulations, and determination, major improvements are possible in cross departmental protocols.

Background: This study aims to improve the skills of the undergraduate nursing students about data collection for postpartum evaluation of the mother and the infant at home environment by using simulation experience. Method: The study was conducted between February and May 2019. 63 third-year undergraduate students, who were enrolled to the department of nursing of a foundation university in Istanbul, constituted the sample of the study. First implementation stage of the study, which had one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design, was conducted at the simulation center of the university by using a simulation-based scenario. Second implementation stage was conducted at the Family Health Centers, located in Ümraniye district of İstanbul province in Turkey. Data was collected by using “Family Diagnosis Performance Checklist for Home Visits (FDPC)” and “Students Satisfaction and Self-confidence in Learning Scale (SCLS)”. Results: We found a statistically significant difference between the self-confidence subscale of the SCLS after the simulation activity and the actual home visits ( p < 0.05). Comparison of the scores obtained from the satisfaction subscale of the SCLS after the simulation activity and the actual home visits reveals no statistically significant difference ( p > 0.05). Finally, we found a statistically significant difference between FDPC scores obtained from the simulation-based home visit scenario and the actual home visits ( p < 0.001). Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that simulation-based learning in community health nursing improves self-confidence of nursing students and contributes to their skills on data collection and diagnosis during home visits.

AIMS: To identify the perception of nursing students about the structural dimensions of the design of high-fidelity simulation scenarios in adult immunization scenarios in the context of primary health care.METHODS: Descriptive, exploratory, quantitative study developed at a Brazilian federal public university from May to June 2017. The final sample consisted of 17 students. The 5-item Likert simulation design Scale was used to evaluate the design of simulation scenarios.RESULTS: The majority of students are young and female adults (82.4%). In the internal consistency analysis, the simulation design scale presented a total Cronbach's alpha of 0.930. In all dimensions of the scale, overall averages were equal to or greater than 4.60. The dimensions that showed the greatest agreement and importance among students were, respectively, problem solving and realism.CONCLUSIONS: In the students' perception, the simulated scenarios were clear and objective in relation to the proposal and the execution. In addition, they felt supported during the learning process, which allowed to explore and solve the problems presented during the simulation. The feedback provided was relevant and provided opportunities for students to reflect on their practices and attitudes. Finally, realism was highlighted as an important aspect by those surveyed.
