Integrating Cache-Related Pre-Emption Delays into Analysis of Fixed Priority Scheduling with Pre-Emption Thresholds

Abstract: Abstract-Cache-related pre-emption delays (CRPD) have been integrated into the schedulability analysis of sporadic tasks with constrained deadlines for fixed-priority pre-emptive scheduling (FPPS). This paper generalizes that work by integrating CRPD into the schedulability analysis of tasks with arbitrary deadlines for fixed-priority pre-emption threshold scheduling (FPTS). The analysis is complemented by an optimal threshold assignment algorithm that minimizes CRPD. The paper includes a comparative evaluatio… Show more

“…Initial work in this area is reported in (Rihani et al 2016). (ii) covering processor scheduling policies where analysis of cache-related pre-emption delays already exists, such as fixed-priority scheduling with pre-emption thresholds (Bril et al 2014(Bril et al , 2017, and EDF (Lunniss et al 2013). (iii) covering write-back caches, following recent work in this area Blass et al 2017).…”

“…Section 4 recapitulates analysis for FPTS without CRPD and analysis for FPPS with CRPD. Sections 5-8 present our response-time analysis for FPTS with CRPD [which revisits our analysis in Bril et al (2014)]. The analysis is split into the following sections: Sect.…”
