Conducted review of methods of calculation of productivity of open-pit excavators and results of verification calculations shows that, there is no uniform method that counts constantly changing physical and mechanical properties of developed rocks, technological parameters of a face, design and force parameters of an excavator, probability of its no-failure operation, casual character of transport delivery, qualification of the excavator operator, climatic conditions. Calculation of productivity of open pit excavators under specific mining and geological conditions is made for planning and rationing of excavation and loading machines, the choice and provision of transport, and establishment of a rational mode of their operation. In the given conditions of open-cut mining, an excavator’s productivity depends on many natural, mining-technological, and organizational factors, which are difficult to take into account and largely interact with the design parameters of open-pit excavators. In fact, most of the factors are probabilistic in nature. As a consequence, it is advisable to define values of productivity for each individual case based on the cumulative account of changes in multifactorial conditions of operation and technical condition of technologically connected equipment. In this regard, it is of interest to determine the value of productivity of quarry excavators with the account of the stated factors.

The authors focus on the process of potash ore production by a mechanized method. They show that currently there are no approved procedures for assessing the performance of heading-and-winning machines operating in the conditions of potash mines. This causes difficulties in determining the field of application of heading-and-winning machines, complicates the search for implicit technical solutions for the modernisation of existing models of mining units, prohibits real-time monitoring of the stability of stope-based technological processes and makes it difficult to assess the performance of the services concerning mining enterprises. The work represents an aggregate assessment of the performance of heading-and-winning machines for potash mines by determining complex indicators describing the technological and technical levels of organising the work in stopes. Such indicators are the coefficients of productivity and energy efficiency, respectively. Experimental studies have been carried out in the conditions of the potash mine of the Verkhnekamskoye potassium-magnesium salt deposit to assess the performance of the latest and most productive Ural-20R heading-and-winning machines manufactured in Russia. Using the above methodological approaches, this paper shows that the unsatisfactory technological performance of the studied machine is due to the low productivity of the mine district transport. The average productivity coefficient was 0.29. At the same time, high values of the energy efficiency coefficient show that the productivity of the machine is on par with design conditions.

The article gives the description of experimental studies on the assessment of changes in the state of gear teeth of a mechanical transmission during tests on a stand with a closed power flow. Data on the gears made of cast iron materials are presented. The strength characteristics of gear wheel materials and their chemical composition are given. Operational life testing of gear sets with various geometries of gearing and made of gray cast was carried out. According to the conducted studies, it is found that by the optimization of the gearing parameters it is possible to increase the gear life by one and a half to two times without switching to more wear-resistant and durable materials. It is experimentally proved that the influence of geometrical parameters of gearing with combined displacement on the durability of gears is comparable with the replacement of material. When replacing the material of gears made of gray cast iron with alloy grades of cast iron, preference should be given to high-alloy wear-resistant cast iron with a surface hardness above average, and the effect of their use can be comparable to the effect of optimizing the gearing parameters.
