Background: Hypovitaminosis D is a public health problem due to its implications for various diseases. Vitamin D has numerous functions, such as modulating the metabolism of cellular tissues, and it is expressed through the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene that may influence gene expression modulation, which plays an important role in vitamin D metabolism. Objective: To evaluate the effect of the genotypes of BsmI single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of the VDR gene on VDR, SOD2, and CYP24A1 gene expression in individuals with low serum vitamin D levels. Methods: This was a cross-sectional analytical study. After signing the informed consent form, individuals were invited to participate and answered a structured questionnaire with identification data. Blood was collected for biochemical analysis, and vitamin D was measured by chemiluminescence; BsmI polymorphism was determined using real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays with TaqMan allelic discrimination, and gene expression was conducted by qRT-PCR using QuantiFast SYBR® Green PCR Master Mix. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 20.0 software, and differences were considered significant at p < 0.05. Results: 98 individuals with vitamin D ≤ 20 ng/dL were evaluated, and the BsmI SNP of the VDR gene showed CYP24A1 overexpression and low SOD2 expression. Conclusion: BsmI SNP of the VDR gene can modulate the expression of the genes evaluated without interfering with serum levels.

Adequate nutrition has a profound impact on older adults’ health. Therefore, special attention should be given to the dietetic intake of added sugars, which in excess is associated with poorer control of chronic diseases in this phase. The aim of the study was to evaluate the prevalence of consumption of added sugars in older adults in the Campinas-SP region, its associated factors, and its main dietary sources. A cross-sectional study was conducted in the region of Campinas-SP, with a convenience sample of 586 older individuals. Intake was obtained using two 24-hour food recalls, and values >5% of total energy consumption were considered inadequate. The contribution of the groups and foods in relation to the total content of sugars was also calculated. A critical level of p<0.05 was considered. The average intake of added sugars was higher than recommended (7.0%), and this inadequacy was observed in more than half of the sample, being table sugar and honey the main dietary sources. The prevalence of inadequate consumption was higher among women (69.8%; p=0.004) and individuals with low weight (83.7%; p=0.014), and lower in those with diabetes (47.8%; p<0.001). Results indicate that health and nutrition actions should be developed to ensure adequate sugar intake at this stage.

A pesquisa propõe apresentar quais os impactos que a cultura do cancelamento tem na vida do indivíduo cancelado, focando nos conteúdos explícitos de figuras públicas canceladas que interagem nas redes sociais. Para mais, também intenciona descrever os principais impactos financeiros e midiáticos gerados por esses cancelamentos. Método: Foi realizada uma pesquisa com abordagem qualitativa a partir do método da netnografia, que permite uma coleta de dados feita pelas mídias digitais. A análise dos impactos da cultura do cancelamento ocorreu com a seleção de cinco perfis da rede social instagram com a escolha de algumas mulheres famosas da faixa etária de 20 a 35 anos. Resultados e Discussão: Houve uma certificação de que os cancelamentos estão relacionados com lutas sociais e políticas, como questões ligadas à xenofobia, racismo, machismo e lgbtqfobia, além de aspectos referentes à saúde coletiva. Percebeu-se também que essa nova forma de debater os comportamentos das pessoas famosas trouxeram diversas repercussões, tanto no campo da saúde mental, como no marketing pessoal da figura pública. A reação do público, dependendo da pauta, tende a ser agressiva e intolerante. Conclusão: Muitos dos debates que giram em torno dos assuntos que causam o cancelamento levam inúmeras pessoas à reflexão, de modo a esclarecer o pensamento sobre determinados temas que até então poderiam ser desconhecidos para uma população leiga. É necessário que se avalie o modo e a intensidade que a cobrança é feita, evitando ataques e oportunizando que o sujeito cancelado possa se expressar acerca de seus erros, amenizando assim um possível adoecimento mental, sendo necessária a psicologia está atenta a essas demandas que emergem.
