Instruments for Measuring the Influence of Visual Persuasion: Validity and Reliability Tests

Abstract: In User Experience (UX) research, the instruments are often measured by means of rating scales such as Likert scale and semantic differential scale. The validity of the findings and conclusions rely heavily on the instruments used in the questionnaires. This paper provides the assessment of the validity and reliability of a new set of measures to evaluate the influence of visual persuasion on web users. The instruments will be used to assess web users ' perceptions of credibility, engagement, informativeness,… Show more

“…"The consistency of knowledge includes four dimensions: material efficiency, document adequacy, material accuracy, and document reliability. (Ibrahim et al, 2018;Nurqamarani, et al, 2019Silalahi et al, 2017. According to (Wang, Wang, & Chen, 2009), the consumer continues to search for reliable, full, and readily available product details when making an acquisition.…”

“…Device consistency is the opinion of consumers regarding knowledge collection and mobile application distribution (Ngoc Duy Phuong & Thi Dai g, 2018; Silalahi et al, 2017). Four metrics are used to assess the consistency of the program, namely ease of use (the degree to which people are able to use the system) (Ibrahim et al, 2018), Navigation (examining links to the knowledge needed), interactivity (such as access to the search engine and personal design) and usability (speed of access and interface availability) shopping cart feature (Silalahi et al, 2017).…”

“…Table 2 shows a reliability analysis of the constructs. The threshold for composite reliability, Cronbach's alpha, Dijkastra's PLSc reliability, true composite reliability and factor reliability must be greater than 0.70 (Ibrahim et al, 2018). The reliability analysis shows that all the constructs have values in the acceptable range hence it shows that the instrument is reliable and can be used further for data collection purposes in Pakistani context.…”

“…A scrutiny of the correlation table indicated that none of the correlations exceeded 0.7. Since a correlation greater than 0.7 indicates a majority of shared variance (0.7  0.7 = 49% shared variance) (Ibrahim Shiratuddin, & Wong, 2015), the discriminant validity of the measures in this pretest was acceptable.…”
