The definition of inclusion or the concept of integrating the concept of universal education has recently become increasingly important to prepare an environment that facilitates access to information for all individuals, especially those with special needs. Technological developments provide great changes and innovations in the field of education, as well as in all areas of our age. Especially computer and internet-centred technologies are used in education and enable to be processed with efficient and different methods. The aim of this research is to address the perspectives of future special education teachers on assistive technologies with a competency-oriented approach. For this purpose, 41 senior teacher candidates studying in the special education department of education faculties of 3 universities were interviewed in the fall term of 2020–2021. In order to reach the aim of the research, three semi-structured questions prepared by the researcher by taking expert opinions were asked. As a result of the research, it has been found that assistive technologies are beneficial for both students and teachers. As a result of the examples given by the senior pre-service teachers about assistive technologies, it was concluded that they knew a limited number of assistive technologies. ÖZÖzel eğitime ihtiyaç duyan öğrenciler öğrenme ortamlarında ve günlük yaşamlarında çeşitli zorluklarla karşılaşmaktadırlar. Bu öğrencilerin eğitim ihtiyaçlarında ve yaşam becerilerinde çevreleri ile etkileşim kurmalarını yardımcı teknolojilerle desteklemek kaçınılmazdır. Öğretmenlerin yardımcı teknolojileri etkili bir şekilde kullanması, onların yardımcı teknolojilere yönelik tutumlarına bağlı olarak değişmektedir. Öğretmenlerin yardımcı teknolojiler hakkında olumlu tutum sergilemesi, öğrencilerin başarılarını arttırmak için bu teknolojileri sınıf içerisinde yapılan etkinliklerde kullanmalarını arttırmaktadır. Bu bağlamda bu araştırmaya Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti'nde görev yapan 40 özel eğitim öğretmeni katılmıştır. Araştırmada, özel eğitim öğretmenlerinin yardımcı teknoloji kullanımlarına yönelik tutumlarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu araştırma nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel araştırma modeline göre yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada özel eğitim öğretmenlerinin yardımcı teknoloji kullanımına yönelik genel tutum puanlarının kararsızım aralığına denk geldiği yani öğretmenlerin tutumlarının ne olumlu ne de olumsuz olduğu belirlenmiştir. ABSTRACTStudents in need of special education face various difficulties in learning environments and daily life. It is inevitable to support these students to interact with the educational needs and the living skills of the students with supporting technologies. Teachers' positive attitude towards assistive technologies increases the students' use of these technologies in class activities in order to increase their success. In this context, 40 Special Education Teachers working in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus participated in the study. In the survey, it was aimed to determine the attitudes of special education teachers towards assistive technology use. This research was conducted according to the descriptive research model of quantitative research methods. In the study, it was determined that the general attitude scores for the use of assistive technology by special education teachers corresponded to the unstable interval, that is, the attitudes of the teachers were neither positive nor negative. Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education plays a vital role in order to prepare students for the twenty-first century economy. Unfortunately, people with disabilities in countries throughout the world are vastly underrepresented in scientific and technological fields. Closing the gap in the STEM is vital for improving fairness and opportunities for the people with disabilities. The STEM industry is critical in a world where there are various environmental, health, and development issues. It is essential not only for increasing productivity and competitiveness, but also for ensuring individual and societal well-being. The STEM workforce is expected to rise exponentially in the future year in today's burgeoning knowledge-intensive economy. This chapter explores a current state-of-the-art literature review on the use of assistive robots in STEM education people with disabilities.
