In pigment ink digital printing, the color difference between the original and the printed product can be visible due to the varied color gamut of devices and the impact of fabric characteristics on the color-presenting effect. To improve the color reproduction accuracy of digital printing, two methods, the full-process optimized (FPO) method and the neural network aided original adjustment (NNAOA) method, were proposed to reduce printing color difference during the color-transferring process. The FPO method, based on accounting for the fabric type and the characteristics of the printing machine, was proposed by optimizing the printing parameter settings in the color management process. Here, the optimal single-channel ink limit was determined and dot gain was compensated using the inverse function correction method, and then the International Color Consortium profile was generated. After using the FPO method, the color difference between the printed sample and the original was reduced from 20.8 to 5.254 compared with performing the original color management. To reduce the reliance on personal experience in color adjustment, the NNAOA method was proposed and implemented for 20 color patches with the largest color differences in the FPO method, allowing the color of the originals to be adjusted with the establishment of the general regression neural network model. This method predicted the input CMYK values of the original using measured L*a*b* values for the printed sample. The results showed that the color difference of the 20 color patches was reduced from 8.54 to 6.60. Consequently, both methods offered distinguishable improvements in the color reproduction effect.

In this work, sodium chlorite method was used to remove lignin in basswood and then the wood was dyed with reactive red X-3B dye. Finally, ultraviolet curing resins with a refractive index similar to cellulose were vacuum-impregnated into the wood to obtain red transparent wood (RTW). Nowadays, transparent wood can be given color by various means and has a wide range of application prospects in the field of transparent wood decoration, but the color embodiment is relatively single. The aim was to develop a low-priced, easy-to-use process for the preparation of colored transparent wood with a sound color system. Transparent wood with colors will have more decorative and commercial value. The chemical composition, microscopic morphology, mechanical properties, and optical properties of dyed transparent wood were examined and analyzed. The results of the chemical composition analysis showed that after delignified treatment, the wood lost a large amount of lignin. After the dyeing treatment, the content of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin was slightly lost, and reactive dye groups appeared in the wood. Infrared spectra of transparent samples showed that the resin was successfully impregnated into the wood. The microscopic morphology analysis results showed that a small amount of dye molecules aggregated on the cell walls after dyeing treatment, and the resin was impregnated into the porous cellulose skeleton of the wood, filling the wood pores. The analysis of mechanical properties showed that the maximum tensile strength of dyed transparent wood reached 122.31 MPa, which was a higher resistance to tensile force compared to raw wood (with a maximum tensile strength of 97.56 MPa); the elongation at break reached 6.26%, which had better toughness compared to log (4.04%). Optical performance analysis showed that the transmittance of dyed transparent wood reached 81%, and dyeing did not change the transmittance of transparent wood. In addition, after undergoing yellowing resistance experiments, the color difference change of dyed transparent wood was much smaller than that of transparent wood.

Inkjet printing technology is widely used in the textile digital printing application today though the current technology still requires pretreatment and postwashing procedures before and after printing. Additional chemical treatment generates a large amount of wastewater and complicates the process. Among the many potential approaches for reducing chemical waste, pigments with self-dispersing capability were prepared and formulated into binder-free inkjet inks that require no pretreatment or afterwashing process when printing cotton fabrics. The new self-dispersing pigment inks were tested and evaluated on cotton fabrics. The distribution of particles was between 122.2 and 188.5 nm, and inks have excellent storage capability. Printed fabrics' light fastness and acid/alkali resistance are about grade 5, and printed cotton's washing and rubbing fastness are above grade 3. The mechanism and performance of ink drops were investigated by LF-NMR and ink-drop observation methods. This work provides a possible solution for reducing wastewater in the textile industry.

Abstract: Mercerization can control the crystallinity of cotton fiber, promote the absorption of ink droplets' wick into the fiber and inhibit ink droplets from penetrating the back of fabric. Therefore, the printing quality was extremely enhanced.
