Insect tea extract attenuates CCl4-induced hepatic damage through its antioxidant capacities in ICR mice

Abstract: The Insect tea extract (ITE) contained many polyphenols, the aim of the present study was to determine the preventive effects of ITE on CCl-induced hepatic damage in mice. ITE treated mice could reduce hepatic injury compared to the control mice. The 200 mg/kg ITE increased TC, ALB, SOD, CAT, GSH-Px serum levels, and decreased ALT, AST, ALP, TG, BUN, NO, MDA levels compared to the control group. By histological observation, ITE reduced injury to hepatic cells, and these effects were close to that seen with the… Show more

“…32 CCl 4 -induced liver injury can cause signicant intrahepatic inammation and liver brosis in mice. 4,15 Therefore, we used a CCl 4 -induced oxidative stress and acute liver injury mouse model to explore the protective effect of Lactobacillus fermentum HFY06 isolated from yak yogurt on liver injury. Liver weight and liver indices were used as indicators of CCl 4 -induced liver injury.…”

“…Therefore, the levels of serum cytokines, including IL-6, TNF-g and TNF-a, in patients with inammatory diseases are higher than those in healthy individuals. 4,15 Inammatory factors play important roles in liver function, and reducing these inammatory cytokines may be an improved method of preventing liver injury. 41 Previous studies have shown that probiotics can improve alcohol-induced liver injury through their own anti-inammatory properties.…”

“…TPS can also improve the anti-oxidant function in gastric cancer mice via decreasing the levels of MDA and increasing the activity of antioxidant enzymes [78,112]. Tea extract could attenuate oxidative damage by improving the expression of SOD, CAT, and GPX, and downregulating the expression of iNOS and COX-2 in mice [113]. Further studies showed that EGCG inhibited iNOS gene expression, iNOS kinase and COX activities, which would reduce the generation of NO and prostacyclin, and decrease protein and DNA damage, and ultimately inhibit cancer [114,115].…”
