Abstract. FUSEIS is an innovative seismic resistant system consisting of two closely spaced strong columns rigidly connected through multiple beams. The system resists lateral loads as a vertical Vierendeel beam. The dissipative elements are the FUSEIS beams and they usually have reduced beam sections (RBS) towards beam ends in order for the plastic hinge formation to be shifted away from the connections. In this paper, the behavior of a FUSEIS system with SHS and CHS beams made of high strength steel S700 is evaluated.
