“…Thus, the applied dietary lipid sources significantly improved the fecundity of broodstock of gourami fish. This is in agreement with the results from previous researches carried out on different species of gourami (Richter ; Pethiyagoda ; Reyes‐Bustamante & Ortega‐Salas ). Richter () stated that the fecundities in floating egg spawners had high variation which is varied between 800 and 20 000 eggs per female.…”

“…In the current study, the time required for sexual maturity in females of three-spot gourami was recorded between 80 and 85 days after stocking. These results were compatible with those found by McKinnon & Liley (1987) and Reyes-Bustamante & Ortega-Salas (2002) who reported that T. trichopterus reaches a maximum length of 15-20 cm and sexual maturity took place at length of 7 cm and age of 12-14 weeks. In contrast with what we observed in threespot gourami, the first spawning occurred earliest in Nile tilapia brood fish fed the crude palm oil (CPO) diet compared with fish fed the FO+CPO, FO or LO diets.…”

“…The brooders are multi-spawners and male dependent with asynchronous ovary development. Like most fish in this family, the three-spot gouramies are bubble nest builders and their eggs as well as the fry are lighter than water hence float a top (Reyes-Bustamante and Ortega-Salas 2002).…”
