“…Thus, the aim of the treatment is clear: ''No bacteria-No reaction.'' One problem of root canal disinfection in vivo is the ability of organic compounds to inactivate the irrigant antimicrobial activity (23). Because the dentin was infected intraorally, a high quantity of organic structures was expected.…”

“…However, it is highly cytotoxic (7) and its effects are significantly affected by organic matter (8). It was also shown that the clinical performance of NaOCl is inferior to its effects in vitro and about 40-60% of the cases of irrigation with NaOCl still harbor bacteria in the main canal (2).…”

“…This is because of its slower decomposition, and other factors such as release of hypochlorous acid, stable chlorine levels, low toxicity and low corrosive ability (Mazzola et al 2003). Although it is known that in the presence of organic matter, compounds such as sodium hypochlorite can be less effective in suspension (Pappen et al 2010), the household bleach at the recommended concentration for general use was no less effective in simulated dirty conditions than in clean conditions. The antibacterial effect demonstrated by both disinfectants against the four S. aureus strains in suspension meets the EN 1276 standard which recommends that for a disinfectant product to be antibacterial using the suspension test, 5 log reduction should be achieved within 5 min.…”
