Inhibition of lncRNA DCST1‐AS1 suppresses proliferation, migration and invasion of cervical cancer cells by increasing miR‐874‐3p expression

Abstract: BackgroundCervical cancer seriously threatens both the health and life of women. We aimed to investigate whether RNA interference of long non‐coding RNA (lncRNA) DCST1‐AS1 could promote miR‐874‐3p expression to affect the proliferation, migration and invasion of cervical cancer cells.MethodsDCST1‐AS1 expression levels in cervical cancer cells and transfection effects were detected by quantitative reverse transcriptase‐polymerase chain reaction analysis. Proliferation, invasion and migration of cells were separ… Show more

“…LncRNA DCST1-AS1 is suggested to play an oncogenic role in cancer initiation and development. For example, lncRNA DCST1-AS1 promotes the development of cervical cancer (CC) [ 41 ], cervical squamous cell carcinoma [ 42 ], endometrial carcinoma [ 43 ], gastric cancer [ 44 ], Triple-negative breast cancer [ 18 ] and hepatocellular carcinoma [ 17 ] by targeting miRNAs. In our study, we found that the lncRNA DCST1-AS1 is upregulated in CRC tumor tissues, and patients with high level of lncRNA DCST1-AS1 is associated with a poor prognosis.…”

“…LncRNA DC-STAMP domain-containing 1-antisense 1 (DCST1-AS1) was overexpressed in various tumor types, including breast cancer, glioblastoma, cervical cancer, and hepatocellular carcinoma (16)(17)(18)(19). Elevated expression of DCST1-AS1 regulates cancer progression by sponging different miRNAs and influencing the downstream signaling pathways (16)(17)(18)(19). However, our current understanding of DCST1-AS1 in EC is still limited.…”

“…In OS, the downregulated lncRNA XLOC_008466/miR-874-3p/CCNE1 axis can also inhibit tumor growth ( Ghosh et al, 2017 ). The expression of lncRNA DCST1-AS1 increases in cervical cancer tissues and cells, and inhibition of DCST1-AS1 can increase the expression of miR-874-3p, thereby inhibiting the proliferation, migration and invasion of cervical cancer cells ( Liu et al, 2021a ). In PTC, miR-874-3p can inhibit FAM84A and exert carcinogenic effects through the Wnt/β-catenin signal transduction ( Ding et al, 2021 ).…”
