Inherited thrombophilia is significantly associated with severe preeclampsia

Abstract: Methods to prevent the development of pathologies due to placental dysfunctions, such as gestational hypertension and preeclampsia, are the main approaches for obtaining the best maternal and fetal antepartum and postpartum prognosis. During 5 years of study (January, 2015 to December, 2019, the cases of pregnancy and puerperium complicated with pathology due to placental dysfunction were analyzed. “…As regards the administration of LMWH, it is not prophylactically recommended for women without active thrombosis or a history of a major thrombotic event (20,29,30). For the case in the present study, the use of a 150 mg daily dose of aspirin was considered, based on the authors' experience in screening and preventing, first and foremost preeclampsia, but also other fetal and maternal complications and the associated risks of intrauterine growth restriction, premature rupture of membranes, abruptio placentae and intrauterine fetal death (32,33). The justification in adding enoxaparin to the treatment of the patient was the existence of associated pathologies: Peripheral venous insufficiency with a high risk of thrombosis in the context of pregnancy and thrombocytosis, as well as an advanced maternal age.…”

“…The pregnancy‐induced shift in coagulation, as an adaptation to prevent postpartum bleeding, can be abnormally exaggerated in women with thrombophilia, 1 especially after cesarean section, which doubles the risk of thrombotic events compared with vaginal deliveries 2 . Thrombophilia is a group of genetic disorders that cause the blood to clot abnormally and is linked to adverse pregnancy outcomes 3–5 . Therefore, antithrombotic treatment in pregnant patients with previous adverse fetal outcomes, and especially thrombophilia, is recommended 6 …”

It led to isolation and identification of vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), then the knowledge about vitamin D role as immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, and antioxidant was grew.…”
