Infrared-to-Visible Upconversion in Erbium Pentaphosphate

Abstract: Infrared-to-visible upconversion has been observed by many authors in a variety of rare-earth-doped crystals. This paper reports the study of the upconversion found in stoichiometric erbium pentaphosphate, ErP5O14. Strong green fluorescence was observed upon pumping the crystal with a cw diode 1aser at a wavelength of about 800 nm.

“…Surface water runoff was modeled with the rainfall-runoff model CliRun, the latest available model in a family of hydrologic models developed specifically for the analysis of the impact of climate change on runoff, first proposed by Kaczmarek (1993). 2 CliRun models runoff with a lumped watershed defined by climate inputs and soil characteristics averaged over the entire watershed, simulating runoff at a gauged location at the mouth of the catchment.…”

“…Introduction Erbium pentaphosphate monocrystals (ErP 5 O 14 ) grown by one of us and coworkers [1][2][3] exhibit an active ions concentration of 3.78 x 10 21 cm-3. It is well known that at relatively low concentration of Er3+ in various matrices the media are very suitable for amplification and generation of light, as well as in the process of infrared-tovisible upconversion.…”
