Background There has been a delay in the detection and treatment of lymphedema in breast cancer patients during the lockdown owing to quarantine and limited social activity. Moreover, this scenario has caused psychosocial issues in these patients. Given that there is scarce information on the prevalence and influence of lymphedema during the coronavirus disease (COVID‐19) pandemic, we aimed to estimate the prevalence of lymphedema recurrence and its influencing factors among discharged breast cancer patients during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Methods This was a multicenter, cross‐sectional, hospital‐based survey of discharged breast cancer patients was conducted during the COVID‐19 pandemic in eight first‐class hospitals in Wuhan, China. The Norman Questionnaire was used to assess lymphedema. Univariable and multivariable binary logistic regression analyses were performed to identify factors influencing moderate or severe lymphedema. Differences in living characteristics, anxiety, and depression were compared between the no/mild lymphedema group and the moderate/severe lymphedema groups. Preferences for lymphedema management during the pandemic were determined. Results Overall, 202 patients were included in this study, and 191 of them reported recurrent lymphedema (prevalence: 94.6%, 95% confidence interval [CI] 90.5% to 97.3%). Among them, 134 and 57 had mild and moderate/severe lymphedema, respectively. In 191 patients, the main symptoms were swelling (140; 69.3%) and pain (56, 27.7%). Multivariable regression showed that older age (odds ratio [OR], 1.06; 95% CI: 1.02–1.10), radical surgery (OR = 4.35, 95% CI: 1.54–12.50), and fully complete radiotherapy (OR = 2.62, 95% CI: 1.17–5.87, p = 0.019) were associated with an elevated risk of moderate/severe lymphedema. The moderate/severe lymphedema group experienced a higher rate of anxiety and depression than the no/mild lymphedema group did. Patients equally preferred treatment in the hospital and self‐care at home. Conclusion During the COVID‐19 pandemic, high prevalence of lymphedema was observed in patients Age, radical surgery and fully completed radiotherapy were associated with increased risk of severer lymphedema. Meanwhile, the patients with severe lymphedema experienced psychological distress. While the Covid‐19 pandemic was still raging, continuous efforts should be made to identify patient at risk of lymphedema and distribute feasible guidance and education for self‐management in lymphedema.

Introduction. Incidence of breast cancer (BC) in 2020 is about 2.26 million new cases. It is the first common cancer accounting for 11.7% of all cancer worldwide. Disease complications and the mortality rate of breast cancer are highly dependent on the early diagnosis. Therefore, novel human breast-imaging techniques play an important role in minimizing the breast cancer morbidity and mortality rate. Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is a noninvasive technique to image the breast using the electrical impedance behavior of the body tissues. Objectives. The aims of this manuscript are as follows: (1) a comprehensive investigation of the accuracy of EIT for breast cancer diagnosis through searching pieces of evidence in the valid databases and (2) meta-analyses of the results. Methods. The systematic search was performed in the electronic databases including PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, Science Direct, ProQuest, Scopus, and Google Scholar without time and language limitation until January 2021. Search terms were “EIT” and “Breast Cancer” with their synonyms. Relevant studies were included based on PRISMA and study objectives. Quality of studies and risk of bias were performed by QUADAS-2 tools. Then, relevant data were extracted in Excel form. The hierarchical/bivariate meta-analysis was performed with “metandi” package for the ROC plot of sensitivity and specificity. Forest plot of the Accuracy index and double arcsine transformations was applied to stabilize the variance. The heterogeneity of the studies was evaluated by the forest plots, χ2 test (assuming a significance at the a-level of 10%), and the I2 statistic for the Accuracy index. Results. A total of 4027 articles were found. Finally, 12 of which met our criteria. Overall, these articles included studies of 5487 breast cancer patients. EIT had an overall pooled sensitivity and specificity of 75.88% (95% CI, 61.92% to 85.89%) and 82.04% (95% CI, 69.72% to 90.06%), respectively. The pooled diagnostic odds ratio was 14.37 (95% CI, 6.22% to 33.20%), and the pooled effect of accuracy was 0.79 with 95% CI (0.73, 0.83). Conclusions. This study showed that EIT can be used as a useful method alongside mammography. EIT sensitivity could not be compared with the sensitivity of MRI, but in terms of specificity, it can be considered as a new method that probably can get more attention. Furthermore, large-scale studies will be needed to support the evidence.

Introduction: Breast Cancer is responsible for 2.09 million cases and 6,27,000 deaths worldwide, as per WHO. In India, women have one of the most common cancer, accounting for 14 per cent of all women's cancers. Numerous risk factors are present, such as ethnicity, aging, hormones, family medical history, genetic abnormalities, and unhygienic lifestyles. Side effects of cancer treatment may be alleviated by exercise interventions. Physical- therapy has been shown to be effective in post-operative situations. It improves the functioning of the patient and the quality of life. Presenting Symptoms and Diagnosis: Main symptoms from the patient were pain in the upper extremity, lack of control, power and range of motion. The main clinical results in this case have been a severe decrease in the range of shoulder joint motion. Reduced strength in the upper extremity muscles and swelling (lymphoedema) in the upper extremity. Diagnosis of the case was Infiltrative Ductal Carcinoma that was confirmed by Ultrasonography and Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology. In such cases, behavioural approaches have been shown to be effective. Therapeutic Intervention and Outcomes: Physical therapy intervention involves a variety of range of motion exercises, strengthening exercises, resistance conditioning, breathing exercises, lymphoedema treatment and scar management. Conclusion: This intensive outpatient program is a successful way to enhance the mobility of the shoulder and ROM during the initial 6-week treatment cycle after surgery.
