Information technology: human and organizational factors

Abstract: The importance of human factors (ergonomics/ environment, task design, changing work patterns, organiza tional factors etc.) in the introduction and use of new informa tion technology is discussed, both from the general point of view of 'office work', and more specifically as it relates to library/information work. Considerations in the planning for, and introduction of, IT are outlined, and their significance for the role of the information scientist emphasized. (23 refer ences).
