The Synchronous online argumentation system is highly needed to facilitate learning activity in this internet era. To gain deeper insights about this important issue, this study developed nine principles based on Cognitive Load, User Interface, and User Experience to redesign a system. With this framework, 48 (forty-eight) students of Chi-Ying High School had tested with two prototypes, and the second prototype used the nine principles. The systems were measured with Web-Based Learning Environment (WEBLEI) and System Usability Test (SUS). The result of WEBLEI measurement shows that the second prototype gives better result and shows higher user acceptance than the first prototype. The result of SUS measurement shows that the usability of the second prototype is better than on the first prototype with (4.43) SUS score difference. The result shows that the use of nine principles that applied to the second prototype does increase the usability and acceptance of the students.

At the end of each semester, academic and administrative staff of a faculty have to analyse students’ results for a myriad of factors such as calculating performance of students and lecturers, and for the university’s senate confirmation. Unfortunately, many relevant personnel at the faculty level lack the clearance to access students’ results directly. To circumvent this issue, individual lecturers were required to print out and submit hardcopies of students’ results and channel the data to relevant personnel. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit and lecturers were unable to submit the hardcopies, the faculty had to find an alternative. The introduction of the Marking and Reporting System (MaRS) marks a change from manual hardcopy submission of results following travel restrictions necessitated by the Malaysian government during the Covid-19 pandemic. As with any technological shift and innovation, the level of readiness and acceptance of academic and administrative staff at a faculty must be examined. This paper uses the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) (Davis, 1986; Davis, Bagozzi & Warshaw, 1989) to determine the level of readiness and investigate the level of acceptance among academic and administrative staff in using MaRS via a questionnaire. The findings suggest that with adequate guidance and assistance, the respondents were positive towards using MaRS as the system offers advantages to them such as being cost effective, environmentally friendly, and more convenient in recording students' results. In short, the respondents are ready and willing to use MaRS to manage students’ results despite facing some difficulties in handling the system, because positively overcoming challenges will yield positive outcomes.

Surgery is still far from being completely safe and reliable. Surgical safety has, therefore, been the focus of considerable attention over the last few decades, and there are a growing number of national drives to improve it. There are also a number of large surgical complication reporting systems and system-based interventions, both of which have made remarkable progress in the past two decades. These systems, however, have either mainly focused on reporting complications and played a limited role in guiding practice or have provided nonselective interventions to all patients, perhaps imposing unnecessary burdens on frontline medical staff. We have, therefore, developed an evidence-based stratified surgical safety information system based on a multicenter surgical safety improvement program. This study discusses some critical issues in the process of developing this information system, including (1) decisions about data gathering, (2) establishing and sharing knowledge, (3) developing functions for the system, (4) system implementation, and (5) evaluation and continuous improvement. Using examples drawn from the surgical safety improvement program, we have shown how this type of system can be fitted into day-to-day clinical practice and how it can guide medical practice by incorporating inherent patient-related risk and providing tailored interventions for patients with different levels of risk. We concluded that multidisciplinary collaboration, involving experts in health care (including senior staff in surgery, nursing, and anesthesia), data science, health care management, and health information technology, can help build an evidence-based stratified surgical patient safety improvement system. This can provide an information-intensified surgical safety learning platform and, therefore, benefit surgical patients by delivering tailored interventions and an integrated workflow.
