Information Providing in COVID-19 by Health Professionals in Pakistan

Introduction: Anger is a strong emotional response to deprivation and provocation. It is an emotion that is often created by the discrepancy between our expectations and reality. For medical professionals, it is very necessary to manage their anger because they have to deal with patients of diverse manners. The current study aimed to evaluate the knowledge, attitude and practices of medical students regarding anger from an Islamic perspective. Methods: the current study enrolled medical students who were enrolled in different grades in medical schools. Moreover, after the informed consent, each student was asked to fill out the self-designed questionnaire. The data was statistically analysed by SPSS. Results: The study population comprised 277 subjects, including females and males. Among all participants in the current study, females (147, 53.1%) are more common than males. The highest and lowest numbers of students are enrolled in the 1st year of MBBS (74, 26.7%) and the final year of MBBS (1, 0.4%), respectively. Moreover, personal behaviour after getting angered was asked, like do you leave the scene (said Yes, 123, 44.4%) or seek refuge with Allah (said Yes, 92, 33.2%) from shaitan or taking ablution (said No, 54, 19.5%). The p-value is less than 0.05 for the questions asked as anger is satanic teaching or motivation (p=0.004), or Islam has refrained us from anger (p=0.000), and anger results in an increased crime rate (p=0.000). Similarly, the p-value is less than 0.05 in the case of questions like do you get irritated soon (p=0.002) and when did you get angry (p=0.001). Conclusion: It is concluded that young medical students are more aggressive, and they have less ability to manage their aggressiveness. Spectrum of Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) in Differentiating Paediatric Leukodystrophies in Pakistani Population

Aim: To determine the frequency of findings of MRS in differentiating paediatric leukodystrophies in Pakistani population. Study design: Cross sectional descriptive study. Place and duration of study: Armed Forces Institute of Radiology and Imaging, Military Hospital Rawalpindi from 25thAugust 2018 to 24th February 2019. Methodology: A total of 110 individuals who were coming in for an MRI test and were either male or female, older than one month of age, and younger than 12 years of age, were chosen. A 3.0T MRI scanner equipped with MRS techniques was used for each scan. Axial T1 and T2 Weighted spin-echo, FLAIR, coronal, and sagittal T2 Weighted spin-echo images were all part of the MRI imaging protocol. During the same session, a single section multivoxel 2D chemical shift spectroscopy sequence was also carried out. In MRS, the metabolites that were detected in each of our patients were choline, creatine, lactate, N-acetyl aspartate, and myo-inositol. Data were examined utilizing SPSS 21. Results: The average age was 5.24±1.89 year. 56 (50.91%) of the 110 patients were male children, compared to 54 (49.09%) female children, for a male to female ratio of 1.1:1. The following paediatric leukodystrophies were more often found with MRS in this study: Krabbes disease in 13 (11.82%), Canavan's disease in 19 (17.27%), Adrenoleukodystrophy in 41 (37.27%), Leigh disease in 25 (22.73%), and Metachromatic leukodystrophy in 12 (10.91%). Practical Implication: The underlying issue has recently been linked to mutations in the DARS2 gene, which codes for mitochondrial aspartyl-tRNA synthetase. Conclusion: MRS, which is more affordable than other existing tests, should be utilized in every patient with clinical leukodystrophies. Barriers to Research Perceived by Medical Students of Private Medical College, Lahore- Pakistan

Aim: To identify the major barriers to conducting research perceived by medical students and their association with various years of study and gender. Methodology: This was an analytical cross-sectional study conducted from 9th March 2021 to 6th June 2021. It was conducted among the medical students of all years studying in Combined Military Hospital Lahore Medical College (CMHLMC) & Institute of Dentistry (IOD). Non- probability convenient sampling technique was used. The questionnaire was self-administered and data was analyzed by using SPSS version 20.0.Descriptive statistics of qualitative variables were calculated as frequencies and percentage. Chi-square test of significance was used to see impact of gender and year of study on barriers perceived. P value<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: There was significant difference in barriers perceived by male and female students (p <0.05). The most prevalent barrier in males was extracurricular activities (p=0.001) while major barrier in females was fatigue (p=0.006). Prevalence of barriers was found to be greater among students of 2nd year MBBS (39.3%) and 4th year MBBS (31.3%).The most significant barrier among 2ndyear MBBS was fatigue (p=0.006) while in 4th year MBBS the common barriers perceived were lack of previous exposure (p=0.003), uncooperative colleagues (p=0.003) and finding a mentor (p=0.018). Practical implications: By using this research as a template we can identify ways in which our education system can probe about flaws in promotion and execution of research among students and how to rectify these so that more students can be urged to go forth in medical field as competent researchers so to advance current methods of treatment and bring forth new queries .Pakistan being a third world country is in dire need of young medical professionals who can bring about a new perspective in field of medicine and we can only do so by facilitating them . This article will give an insight in the current difficulties faced by students whether from personal or administrative point of view which is proving to hinder their progress. Conclusion: The results of study showed that major barriers perceived by medical students were curriculum overload, finding a mentor, lack of previous exposure to research.
