Influência das tecnologias habilitadoras da Indústria 4.0 sobre a sustentabilidade: enfoque no Tripple Bottom Line

Abstract

Sustainability has become a theme of growing interest by organizations, as it acts in coparticipation with Industry 4.0. The advance in the insertion of enabling technologies for industry 4.0 (I4.0) brings a high level of connectivity that enables the development of customized products, efficiency in processes and also changes at different organizational levels that impact society as a whole, contributing to the sustainability. This study aimed to analyze how the enabling technologies of Industry 4.0 can contribute to the improvement of indicators related to the Sustainability Triple Bottom (TBL) in a European multinational that operates in the food sector. The results show that, after implementing technologies such as Robots, IoT and Cloud, it is possible to connect factories, bring efficiency and flexibility to processes and improve delivery times, thus impacting the economic aspect. On the other hand, there is a need for investments to adopt the technologies. As for the environmental aspect, technologies such as Robots, IoT and Cloud stood out as they are directly linked to digitization projects, impacting on waste reduction and incorrect delivery of goods. These technologies also impacted organizational transformation indicators, which are directly associated with the motivation of professionals and the need for retraining so that they can be inserted in the context of transformation to a new corporate reality. The company will invest in CPS and Big Data for new projects and hopes that these technologies will bring sustainability benefits.
