RESUMO -Com os objetivos de avaliar a eficácia do herbicida fomesafen no controle de plantas de Amaranthus hybridus se desenvolvendo em solo com diferentes teores de água e determinar qual o menor teor de água do solo que não prejudica a ação desse herbicida no controle dessa espécie, foi realizado um experimento em casa de vegetação. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos ao acaso em esquema fatorial 5 x 5, envolvendo cinco intervalos entre a última irrigação e a aplicação do herbicida (0, 6, 12, 24 e 48 horas) e cinco doses de fomesafen (0,0, 62,5, 125,0, 250,0 e 375,0 g ha -1 ). Quando as plantas atingiram estádio de quatro pares de folhas, foram aplicados 10 mm de chuva simulada, conforme tratamento previsto. Ao término do período de simulação de chuva, aplicou-se o herbicida utilizando pulverizador costal pressurizado com CO 2 , com volume de calda de 120 L ha -1 . Aos 5, 22, 29 e 43 dias após a aplicação (DAA) do herbicida, foi avaliado o controle (por escala visual) de A. hybridus e, aos 43 DAA, foram avaliadas também a massa seca das raízes e a da parte aérea. A aplicação de 375,0 g ha -1 de fomesafen proporcionou controle satisfatório de A. hybridus, independentemente do intervalo entre a última irrigação e a aplicação do herbicida ou do teor de umidade do solo, dentro da faixa avaliada. Pulverizações de 250,0 g ha -1 de fomesafen a intervalos menores que 24 horas entre a última irrigação e sua aplicação e/ou em solo com teor de água maior que 0,12 cm 3 cm -3 não afetaram a eficácia do herbicida sobre A. hybridus. Aplicações de 125,0 g ha -1 de fomesafen a intervalos menores que 12 horas entre a última irrigação e sua aplicação e/ou em solo com teor de água maior que 0,15 cm 3 cm -3 não afetaram a eficácia do herbicida sobre A. hybridus.Palavras-chave: inibidores de Protox, déficit hídrico, planta daninha.ABSTRACT -A greenhouse experiment was carried out to evaluate the efficacy of fomesafen in controlling Amaranthus hybridus grown under different soil humidity levels and to determine the lowest level of soil humidity failing to prevent this herbicide's effectiveness in controlling this species. The experimental design was arranged in randomized blocks with a 5 x 5 factorial scheme. The treatments consisted of five intervals between the last irrigation and herbicide application (0, 6, 12, 24 and 48 hrs) and five fomesafen doses (0.0, 62.5, 125.0, 250.0 and 375.0 g ha -1 ). When the plants reached the four-leaf pair stage, 10 mm of simulated rain were applied. At the end of the rain simulation period, the herbicide was applied using a pressurized backpack sprayer with CO 2 , with 120 Lha -1 of spray volume. This project aimed to relate the control efficiency of ACCase inhibiting herbicides applied post-emergence to Digitaria horizontalis plants under different soil water contents. The experiments were conducted in a greenhouse, with the application of three different herbicides (fluazifop-p-butyl, haloxyfop-methyl, and sethoxydim + mineral oil Assist). The experimental design used for each herbicide was completely randomized, with four replications, consisting of a 3 x 4 factorial, with the combination of water management strategies (-0.03, -0.07 and -1.5 MPa) and four doses of these products (100%, 50%, 25%, and 0% of the recommended dose). Herbicide application was made at two vegetative stages, 4-6 leaves and 2-3 tillers. The visual phytotoxicity evaluations were performed at 14 days after application and the plant dry weight at the end of the study was evaluated. The control efficiency was not affected by water management strategies when applied to the recommended dose of the herbicides in early stages of plant development (4-6 leaf stage). In late applications (2-3 tiller stage) the plants held under drought stress showed less phytotoxicity.

Influence of Drought on Graminicide Phytotoxicity in Wild Oat (Avena fatua) Grown under Different Temperature and Humidity Conditions

Controlled environmental experiments were carried out to determine the phytotoxicity of several graminicides on wild oat (Avena futua L.) as influenced by combination of drought and temperature stress or drought and low relative humidity. Compared with unstressed conditions (20/15°C plus adequate soil moisture), imazamethabenz phytotoxicity to wild oat was reduced significantly when plants were exposed to a combination of drought and high temperature (30/20°C) stress. Imazamethabenz phytotoxicity was reduced almost as much by high temperature stress alone as by a combined temperature and drought stress. When herbicides were applied to wild oat plants subjected to drought alone or to drought plus high temperature, the observed reduction in phytotoxicity from greatest to least was: fenoxaprop ‫ס‬ diclofop > flamprop > imazamethabenz. Fenoxaprop performance was most inhibited by the combination of drought plus high temperature, although drought alone and to a lesser degree, high temperature alone, inhibited fenoxaprop action. High temperature had an adverse effect on the efficacy of fenoxaprop at lower application rates. Raising fenoxaprop application rates to 400 g ha −1 overcame the inhibition caused by high temperature alone but only partially alleviated the effect of drought combined with high temperature. When plants were grown under a low temperature regimen the imposition of drought stress had little effect on imazamethabenz phytotoxicity but did reduce fenoxaprop phytotoxicity. At 25/15°C drought reduced the phytotoxicity of fenoxaprop and diclofop greatly but had no significant impact on the performance of any of the herbicides examined, regardless of soil moisture regimen.
