Influence of some external factors on the rooting of GF677, peach and nectarine shoot hardwood cuttings

Abstract: Institute, Naoussa, Greece. The cuttings were collected from the base of annual shoots and used the same day.Abstract. The influence of some external factors [cultivar, indole-butyric acid (IBA) concentration, IBA dipping of shoot tip and base, preheating of cuttings, collecting date, time of cutting collection, mother tree age, cultivar, length of and diameter of cutting] on rooting of peach-nectarine hardwood shoots in the field were examined. It was found that the best IBA concentration for rooting differed… Show more

“…Synthetic auxins such as IBA have a strong promotional action on rooting of cuttings, other than hardwood, of the 'Gisela 5' cherry rootstock (Stefancic et al, 2006;Wang et al, 2005). The optimal IBA concentration for rooting hardwood cuttings varies between species (Ozkan et al, 2005;Pirlak, 2000;Rosier et al, 2004;Tsipouridis et al, 2004Tsipouridis et al, , 2005 and in this study, 1 gÁL -1 produced the best results.…”

“…Effect of cutting position within the parent shoot and collection date on the percentage of callusing (cuttings with callus + cuttings also with roots), and rooting of hardwood cuttings of the 'Gisela 5' cherry rootstock [20 cm (7.9 inches) long and 9 to 11 mm (0.35 to 0.43 inch) in diameter]. for propagation of peach (Gill and Chitkara, 1990;Tsipouridis et al, 2005). This 'Gisela 5' study suggests that 20-cm long cuttings with 9 to 11 mm diameter collected from the middle of the parent shoots and treated with 1 gÁL -1 IBA gave the best rooting.…”

“…Some authors have reported that agrochemical responses may vary according to the species (Macedo and Castro 2011) and even among cultivars of the same species (Abati et al 2014). In species of clonal propagation, such as peach trees, the rooting rate as a function of the concentration of the growth regulator varied among different cultivars (Tsipouridis et al 2005). Therefore, the differentiated response of cassava cultivars to the use of agrochemicals was not unusual to this type of investigation.…”
