Influence of Re and Ru doping on the structural, optical and photocatalytic properties of nanocrystalline TiO2

Abstract: TiO 2 and TM-doped TiO 2 (TM = Re, Ru) anatase crystalline nanopowders were synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method. Samples with nominal TM/Ti ratio of 0.01 were prepared for this study. Their structural, microstructural and optical properties were studied. The lattice parameters of the different prepared samples were calculated and their mean crystallite sizes determined to be in the range 15-7 nm, the lower values being obtained for the doped crystallites. The samples' specific surface areas were determ… Show more

“…The diffraction peaks at 2 θ = 25.3°, 37.8°, 48.01°, 55.05°, 62.6°, 68.7, 70.2°, and 75.01° are indexed to (1 0 1), (0 0 4), (2 0 0), (2 1 1), (2 0 4), (1 1 6), (2 2 0), and (2 1 5) crystalline planes, respectively. These diffraction peaks match well with standard JCPDS 21‐1272 70 . No other peaks were observed in the XRD pattern indicating the purity of TiO 2 nanoparticles.…”

“…By refining a previously published hydrothermal methodology [4 , 5] , TiO 2 -based nanoparticles (NPs) doped with nitrogen (TiO 2 -N) were prepared. The synthesis conditions of nitrogen doped TiO 2 nanoparticles add to and complement our previously reported work [1] .…”

“…The peaks of Figure 1 can be indexed as a tetragonal phase of TiO 2 nanoparticles with a lattice constant of a = 3.7852 Å and c = 9.5139 Å, in good agreement with JCPDS card no. 21-1272 [14]. In prepared TiO 2 nanoparticles, the peak at 25.5 o corresponding to the plane (101).…”
