Influence of Moringa oleifera extract, vitamin C, and sodium bicarbonate on heat stress-induced HSP70 expression and cellular immune response in rabbits

Abstract: The current study aimed to test the effect of Moringa oleifera extract (MOE), vitamin (Vit) C, and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO) on heat stress (HS)-induced alterations in rabbits. Five groups of rabbits were designed as control, HS, HS + MOE, HS + Vit C, and HS + NaHCO. HS groups were exposed to high temperatures, while treatments were given in drinking water for 6 weeks. Levels of blood cortisol, leptin, IFN-γ, TNF-α, and IL-10 were assayed using ELISA, while adrenaline was assayed calorimetrically. Expression … Show more

“…The HSP70 family is ubiquitous in living organisms (Feder and Hofmann 1999;Sørensen et al 2003) and functions as a molecular chaperone and antiapoptotic agent (Johnston et al 1998;Feder and Hofmann 1999;Yocum 2001;Hellmann 2001;McMillan et al 2005;Sørensen et al 2005;Koštál and Borovánsk 2009). Furthermore, HSP70 repressed the immune response in rabbits due to activation of IL-10-producing T cells (Abdel-Latif et al 2018). Interestingly, the activation of tumor cell death by heat treatment was dependent on hsp70 expression and production of γ δ T cells (Wei et al 1996).…”

“…The M. oleifera contains ten essential amino acids, vitamins A, B complex, C, E and Carotenoids (Foidl, Makkar, & Becker, 2001), although the leaves are widely recognized as a food source for humans and as a dry season feed for animals (Becker & Makkar, 1999). Recently, moringa has been reported to reduce stress biomarker levels in different animals (Abdel‐Latif, Sakran, Badawi, & Abdel‐Hady, 2018).…”
