Influence of Monomer Concentration on the Morphologies and Electrochemical Properties of PEDOT, PANI, and PPy Prepared from Aqueous Solution

Abstract: Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxyhiophene) (PEDOT), polyaniline (PANI), and polypyrrole (PPy) were prepared on indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate via potentiostatic from aqueous solutions containing monomer and lithium perchlorate. The concentration of monomers was varied between 1 and 10 mM. The effects of monomer concentration on the polymers formation were investigated and compared by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV), an… Show more

“…Hence, all analysis were performed at the scan rate of 10 mVs -1 . PANI showed negligible peak current during the CV measurements in PBS alone, as also reported in the literature ( Figure 4A ) ( 45 , 46 ). However, rGO-PANI showed a reduction peak at the potential of approximately -0.1 V with a current response of 0.62 mA, attributed to the electrocatalytic effects of rGO ( 47 – 49 ).…”

“…Chargetransfer resistance (Rct) was approximately 11080 W at the PANI surface. Rct decreased to~10450 and 8804 W in rGO-PANI and Ni-rGO-PANI, respectively, which indicates low impedance on Ni-rGO-PANI; this is attributed to increased mobility of free electrons at the electrode surface because of the synergistic effects between rGO and Ni NPs (20,45,46,53). Based on the data, PANI and rGO-PANI were removed from further consideration; in this study, only the Ni-rGO-PANI surface was modified with the antibody for Mtb sensing.…”

“…Compared with the standard peaks, these main peaks of PEDOT in MnHCF@PEDOT composites shi upwards, indicating that PEDOT is well oxidized. 35 The peak intensity of PEDOT increases while that of MnHCF decreases and the relative intensity of the peak at 2123 cm À1 weakens, indicating an excellent composite and the decrease in the average valence state of transition metals in MnHCF. 37 In order to better understand the in situ polymerization process, XPS was carried out, as shown in Fig.…”

“…The optimized value found was pH=5.0. Apparently, the electropolymerization conducted at this pH generates a polymer with more active binding sites, since the increase of the monomer concentration, promotes the increase of the current .…”
