This research aimed to investigate the mechanical and physical properties of Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) used with Recycled Concrete Aggregate (RCA) as a replacement for natural coarse aggregate. The maximum dry density method was adopted to prepare RCC mixtures with 200 kg/m³ of cement content and coarse natural aggregates in the concrete mixture. Four RCC mixtures were produced from different RCA incorporation ratios (0%, 5%, 15%, and 30%). The compaction test, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, flexural tensile strength, and modulus of elasticity, porosity, density, and water absorption tests were performed to analyze the mechanical and physical properties of the mixtures. One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to identify the influences of RCA on RCC’s mechanical properties. As RCA increased in mixtures, some mechanical properties were observed to decrease, such as modulus of elasticity, but the same was not observed in the splitting tensile strength. All RCCs displayed compressive strength greater than 15.0 MPa at 28 days, splitting tensile strength above 1.9 MPa, flexural tensile strength above 2.9 MPa, and modulus of elasticity above 19.0 GPa. According to Brazilian standards, the RCA added to RCC could be used for base layers.

A proposta deste artigo visa analisar condições/qualidade do veículo público, o ônibus em questão, pela percepção dos próprios usuários, referente a linha 53 Jóquei Clube x Maria Stella Fagá-Via UFSCar, localizada na cidade de São Carlos/SP. Foram avaliados na literatura bibliográfica conceitos de qualidade, conforto, efeitos á saúde e segurança. A metodologia utilizada foi baseada em questionários e entrevistas propostas aos usuários deste transporte, por um período de aproximadamente quatro meses, com isso foram feitas análises dos dados obtidos. A superlotação e falta de segurança foram apontadas como principais defeitos no decorrer do artigo, o resultado fundamental obtido foi que aproximadamente 42% dos entrevistados acusam falta de segurança, desconforto em relação ao uso deste transporte, que não possibilita melhores condições. As propostas são de avaliar as condições de segurança, saúde, conforto e qualidade oferecida por esta linha de transporte, e por fim estabelecer algumas propostas viáveis para esta situação.

The influences of aggregate combination and inhibitor additives on the Alkali-silica Reaction (ASR) were studied in this research. A long-term alkali activity simulation of fully-graded concrete also was carried out. The results showed that replacement of artificial sandstone sand with artificial marble sand reduced the alkali activity expansion rate of the sandstone aggregate and effectively improved the inhibition effect of the aggregate when mixed with 35 % fly ash. Activated silica in the fly ash was crushed into particles and was mixed into each part of the concrete system. It transformed the limited parts into unlimited active centers. As a result, each center participated in the reaction and consumed the alkali. Inhibition of the ASR was effective when the fly-ash content of the ASR-1 was 15 %, while in the ASR-2, the fly-ash did not have a significant inhibition effect. During a long-term simulation, the expansion rate of theconcrete specimens after standard curing at 20 °C was higher than was the expansion rate after outdoor natural curing. The expansion rate of full sandstone concrete specimens was higher than was that of sandstone specimens that contained marble stone.
