“…An increase of plant-feeding nematodes intensifies root C fluxes activating microbial biomass from the rhizosphere and microbivorous nematodes stimulate microorganisms (Denton et al, 1999). Conversely, as there were more microorganisms in Organic plots, we consistently found more fungal-feeding nematode density in organic plots, which is in line with Ferris et al (1996), Villenave et al (2004) and Villenave et al (2010). However, only an increasing trend was observed for bacterial-feeding nematode density in Organic plots.…”

“…The response of nematode community to organic manure tends to be controlled by the amount of organic carbon (C) and quality of the organic material (McSorley & Frederick, 1999). For instance, the number of plant-feeding nematodes was significantly higher in plots fertilised with manure than plots amended with straw, whilst the opposite trend was observed for fungalfeeding nematodes (Villenave et al, 2010). Changes in nematode community structure were also observed after addition of inorganic nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) fertilisers, although nematode density and community responses were weaker with inorganic than organic fertilisers, presumably because organic C is more effective in boosting microbial biomass that is a food source for the bacterivore, fungivore and omnivore nematodes (Bulluck III et al, 2002;Hu & Cao, 2008;Liang et al, 2009).…”

“…Parmi elles, T. martini et P. brachyurus ont été signalées comme des espèces liées à la culture du sorgho. En particulier, P. brachyurus est signalée comme un nématode omniprésent, fréquemment lié à la culture du sorgho (Motalaote et al, 1987 ;Mc Donald et Nicol, 2005 ;Talwana et al, 2008 ;Villenave et al, 2010). Nos résultats montrent que les taux d'infestation des différents nématodes varient d'une rotation à une autre.…”
