Bladygrass (Imperata cylindrica) is the host for arbuscular mycorrhizal. Widespread deployment of bladygrass make arbuscular mycorrhizal inoculum easy to find. In this research examined the effectiveness of a indigenous inoculums. The inoculum obtained from rhizosphere bladygrass in the field, which is a mixture of soil containing spores and hyphae, and root hair pieces bladygrass. This research was carried out with arbuscular mycorrhiza culturing in plastic pots, using corn and bladygrass as a host plant. Observation variable were the root infection and the number of spores. .The results showed the development of arbuscular mycorrhizal in corn plant cells and bladygrass is quite good. This is indicated by an increase in root infection and the number of spores, which is consistent with the increasing age of the plant up to the age of 60 days after the plants inoculated. Root infection increase on the plant age of 60 day after inoculated was 28.48% and 31.33%, on corn plant and bladygrass respectively, compared with the plant age of 30 days after inoculated. Similarly with the number of spores on plant age 60 days after inoculated, an increase of 317.91% and 280.72%, on corn plant and bladygrass respectively, compared with the plant age of 15 days after inoculated. This is an indication that the indigenous inoculum, which taken from bladygrass rhizosphere in field, it was effectively used as arbuscular mycorrhizal inoculum on corn plant.

An investigation was carried out to evaluate the response of selected species of mycorrhizae for nutrient acquisition and phosphorus uptake by maize in an alluvial soils of Bihar. The study was undertaken during 2013 wet season (July to December) in a net-house at Bihar Agricultural University. Six treatments along with a control treatment were maintained with three replications for the experiment. Five species of AM fungi collected from TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) along with a local species from long term litchi orchard (Muzaffarpur), were evaluated on the basis of nutrient acquisition in the soil rhizospeheric region for maize crop. The results obtained clearly show that of all the species of mycorrhizae taken under consideration, Glomus mosseae was found to perform better in terms of nutrient acquisition and uptake of P to plant. The maximum P concentration (7.65 mg kg-1), organic carbon (0.60%) and Zn Concentration (6.48 mg kg-1) and P uptake (was also found with the application of G. mosseae. The AM (Arbuscular Mycorrhiza) species significantly increased the released of P and micronutrients in the soil of rhizospheric region of maize plant. The beneficial effect was more pronounced for the treatment in case of Glomus mossae among all the other species used. This may be due to the higher solubilization power of Glomus mossae for soil nutrients than other species.

The application of treatment T3 (Glomus mosseae + 100 % RDF NK) produced significantly more root volume by 72.60 %, 17.80 %, 12.25 %, 14.13 % over the application of treatment T1 (Control), treatment T5 (Glomus coronatum+ 100 % RDF NK), T6 (Gigasporadecipein + 100 % RDF NK) and T7 (BAU AM-1(Glomus sp + 100 % RDF NK), respectively. Similar trend shows at harvesting stage, here the maximum root volume (23c.c) was recorded by the application of T3 (Glomus mosseae + 100 % RDF NK). Maximum AM colonization and spore count was observed at panicle initiation stage with the application of treatment T3 (Glomus mosseae + 100 % RDF NK). This treatment also gave maximum dehydrogenase activity (55.86 µg TPF g-1 24 hr-1), acid phosphatase activity (0.299 mg PNP g-1 hr-1) and alkaline phosphatase activity (0.54 mg PNP g-1 hr-1) at panicle initiation stage. Application of treatment T3 (Glomus mosseae + 100 % RDF NK) significantly increased DTPA extractable Zn in soil and Zn content in plant when compared with all the treatments except treatment T6 (Gigasporadecipien+ 100 % RDF NK). The maximum zinc uptake (0.056 mg pot-1) by grain was recorded under treatment T3 (Glomus mosseae + 100 % RDF NK) followed by application of treatment T6 (Gigasporadecipien + 100 % N and K). Highest grain yield (14.08 g pot-1) was found with the treatment T3 (Glomus mosseae + 100 % RDF NK). As evident from the results, the AM fungal inoculation can effectively modify the soil microbe population and community structure by increasing the soil enzymatic activities and significantly increased the zinc uptake by grain in direct seeded rice (DSR).
