Influence of environment on soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] resistance to groundnut leaf miner, Aproaerema modicella (Deventer) in Uganda

Abstract: Groundnut leaf miner (GLM) [Aproaerema modicella (Deventer)] is a serious problem for soybean cultivation in Uganda causing yield losses of up to 100%. The use of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] cultivars resistant to GLM attack is an important strategy in the integrated pest management program. The aim of this study was to determine the environment × genotype interaction influence on the soybean resistance traits to GLM attack. Eighteen soybean genotypes were evaluated for resistance to GLM attack. The exper… Show more

“…Analysis of variance was performed using Genstat (12 th version) to estimate the amount of variability for the biological traits. Means were separated using the Fisher's protected least significant difference (Lsd) at 0.05% significance level (Ibanda et al, 2018). Pearson's phenotypic correlation estimates were computed for the studied biophysical parameters.…”

“…The one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was conducted using Genstat 12 th edition to estimate the amount of variability among different samples of compost. Means were separated using Fisher's LSD test at 5% probability level (Ibanda et al, 2018). Boxplots were plotted with the mean of the three replicates for all parameters measured using R statistical package (Version 3.6.1, 2019-07-05).…”

“…Pearson's correlation was used between the number of agricultural workers per household, the cultivated surface area in ha, size of surveyed farming households, field surface area/agricultural worker and gross income was carried out using Genstat 12 th edition. Means were separated with least significant difference at 5% (Ibanda et al, 2018). Pearson's correlation was given by the formula:…”
