Background: There are several physiological changes brought on by the inevitable process of aging. For exploring the potential role of aging in male infertility; we examined the semen quality in Northern Sudanese sub fertile men. Objectives: This study aimed to look into possible association between male age and different sperm parameters derived from semen analysis taking into account the World Health Organization (WHO) reference values of semen indicators. Methods: A retrospective descriptive study included 150 Northern Sudanese Couples men presenting with primary or secondary infertility who underwent semen analysis at Modern Specialized Laboratory (MSL), Atbara, River Nile State, Sudan, between August 2021 and April 2023. Seminal fluid were collected in a sterile, wide mouth container, by dry masturbation, after at least 48 hours of abstinence and brought immediately to the laboratory. Color, viscosity, PH and volume were examined macroscopically, and motility under the microscope within 20 minutes to one hour of collection time and was stained by10% Giemsa stain after fixation by spirit for 10-15min. Morphology and abnormal sperms were checked manually to assess the abnormalities in the head, midpiece and the tail of the sperm. This manual method was allowed the discrimination of immature sperm from white blood cells (WBCs) and then counting the WBCs. Data were collected by predesigned closed ended questionnaires, through direct personal interview with patients and questionnaires were filled after an informed consent was taken from each patient. The statistical analysis was done with the help of statistical software for social sciences SPSS 21. The characteristics of the semen, personal and demographic data were analyzed according to the standard protocols. Results: There was significant positive association between age and the different measured parameters except for the reaction and presence of microorganism and, a significant difference was found with the presence of microorganism by p=0.004. Conclusion: Age differences between participants were not observed to have an impact on semen parameters.

Background: Infertility has increased in recent years. About half of all infertility cases are due to male factors. Objectives: The present study aimed to diagnose infertile individuals by examining sperm volume, density, motility, count, pH, luteum hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), percentage of sperm with abnormal morphology, and percentage of sperm DNA damage. Methods: This study was performed on semen samples of 96 individuals, of whom 45 were fertile and 51 were infertile. Sperm parameters were evaluated based on the World Health Organization (WHO) criteria among fertile and infertile individuals. Results: Volume, concentration, and motility were significantly lower in infertile individuals than in fertile individuals, and LH, FSH, and the percentage of sperm DNA damage were higher in infertile individuals than in fertile individuals. Conclusions: By examining the quality and analysis of semen in men, it is possible to identify infertile people and follow the necessary and appropriate treatment strategies.

Background: Globally prevalence of diabetes is gradually increasing in individual at reproductive stage. Uncontrolled blood sugar affects biological systems including reproductive. Thus, this study was aimed to analyze the association of diabetes and male infertility in and around Chennai. Methods: Fifty-four male participants who visited the fertility clinic was grouped in two based on the sugar value. An anthropometric measurement, clinical, blood, seminal parameters and life style behaviors was analyzed. All study variables was analyzed to examine the association of diabetes and semen quality. Results: Study results shows that people with diabetes had abnormal semen parameters as compared to non- diabetic study participants. Pearson’s correlation between the semen parameters and blood sugar value of the study participants showed semen parameters: volume (r=-0.28, p<0.05), count (r=-0.22, p<0.05), and motility (r=-0.23, p<0.05), has a significantly week negative correlation with blood sugar level. Scatter plots also showed semen parameters: volume (r2=-0.079), count (r2=-0.048), and motility (r2=-0.053), had a significantly week negative linear correlation with blood sugar level. Conclusions: From the study it was concluded that the uncontrolled blood sugar levels affect the reproductive health of the study participants.
