Based on 2021 World Health Organization (WHO) data, as many as 250,715,502 positive Covid-19 confirmed cases, the death rate of Covid-19 sufferers is 5,062,106 (COVID-19 Handling Acceleration Task Force, 2020). The increase in the number of people suffering from Covid-19 proves that Covid-19 spreads easily and quickly (World Health Organization, 2021). The Covid-19 virus attacks all ages, including vulnerable groups, one of which is pregnant women. During the Covid-19 pandemic, health services must continue to run optimally and be safe for patients and midwives with various adjustments based on Covid-19 handling guidelines or health protocols. Implementing antenatal classes during pregnancy and the role of the midwife or health worker is essential in identifying pregnant women class participants who will attend antenatal classes during pregnancy, including in the preparation phase. The objective is to systematically map research conducted in this field and identify the role of midwives in implementing class services for pregnant women during the pandemic. The method used is Prisma Flowchart (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic review and Meta-Analyses) to describe the literature search flow. The article search uses four databases (Google Scholar, Pubmed, Wiley, and Science Direct).

IntroductionThe complex process of pregnancy and childbirth significantly influences the well‐being of both mother and child. Today all pregnant women without medical contraindications are recommended to start or continue regular aerobic and strength training for at least 150 min per week to prevent pregnancy‐related diseases and conditions. Urinary incontinence in pregnancy, episiotomy and third‐ or fourth‐degree perineal tear during labor can greatly impact womens’ health, quality of life and ability to be physically active. The aim of this study was to examine the efficacy of pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) during pregnancy in the prevention of urinary incontinence, episiotomy, and third‐ or fourth‐degree perineal tear.Material and methodsA systematic review and meta‐analysis (CRD42022370600) was performed. Only randomized clinical trials published between 2010 and 2023 were included. The following databases were examined: EBSCO (including Academic Search Premier, Education Resources Information Center, MEDLINE, SPORTDiscus and OpenDissertations databases), Clinicaltrials.gov, Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews and Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro). Three meta‐analyses to investigate the effect of PFMT exclusively or implemented as a section within a physical activity program during pregnancy on urinary incontinence, episiotomy, and third‐ or fourth‐degree perineal tear were conducted.ResultsThirty studies were analyzed (N = 6691). An effective preventive action of PFMT was found for urinary incontinence (z = 3.46; p < 0.0005; relative risk [RR] = 0.72, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.59, 0.87, I2 = 59%) and third‐ or fourth‐degree perineal tear (z = 2.89; p = 0.004; RR = 0.50, 95% CI: 0.31, 0.80, I2 = 48%) but not for episiotomy (z = 0.80; p = 0.42; RR = 0.95, 95% CI: 0.85, 1.07, I2 = 75%).ConclusionsPFMT during pregnancy proves to be an effective preventive intervention for reducing the risk of urinary incontinence and the occurrence of third‐ or fourth‐degree perineal tears. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating PFMT into antenatal care and training programs to improve maternal well‐being and overall childbirth outcomes.

Objective: To determine the status of self-care performance of pregnant women in the prevention of COVID-19 disease and its relationship with perceived stress during the epidemic period of this disease. Method: This cross-sectional study was performed on 228 pregnant women who referred to the health centers in Tabriz, Iran, for prenatal care. They were selected by cluster sampling. Data collection tools included questionnaires about Demographic-Social Characteristics, the Self-Care Performance Questionnaire and Cohen’s Perceived Stress Scale. Spearman correlation test was used to examine the correlation between self-care performance and perceived stress in bivariate and multivariate analyses. Also, multivariate linear regression was used, with control of demographic-social and obstetric characteristics as possible confounders. Results: The median (25-75 percentiles) self-care performance score of participants was 0.71 (0.65-0.76), from the achievable range of 20-80, and its mean (± SD) perceived stress score was 25.5 (± 5.6), from the achievable range of 0- 56. The Spearman’s rank correlation test results showed a significant inverse correlation between perceived stress and self-care performance scores (r = -0.13; P = 0.041). According to multivariate linear regression test, the variables of selfcare performance, education, spouse's education and number of family members were the predictors of perceived stress in pregnant women during the COVID-19 epidemic. Conclusion: According to the results of the present study, self-care performance of pregnant women in prevention of the COVID-19 disease was good and their stress was moderate. There was a significant inverse correlation between selfcare performance and perceived stress that could indicate the high value and importance of the fetus for the mother and her strict adherence to health protocols to prevent COVID-19, which also leads to calming and reduced perceived stress.
