Nowadays, rural depopulation is one of the biggest problems in developed and developing countries, especially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This pandemic impacts various sectors, especially the economic sector. However, the development of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution forced all sectors, including agriculture, to adapt and take advantage of internet-based digital technology by developing smart agriculture. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze the development of smart agriculture in rural areas. This study uses a systematic literature review with a TAA approach with secondary data collected from Scopus databases. The downloaded documents will be further analyzed using VOSviewer software to find the clustering. After the coding process by first-order categories, second layer theme, and aggregate dimension, this research found several theoretical concepts about the “Smart Village”. The definition of the ‘smart village’ concept is a combination of smart agriculture and industry 4.0 technology utilized by rural MSMEs to use the information and communication technology integrated into public services and economic activities. There are still many obstacles encountered in the application of ‘smart villages,’ such as the lack of youth participation and the low quality of human resources in the agricultural sector, limited internet network coverage, and the lack of optimal capital support. This research will contribute to the systematic literature review method by purposing filtering criteria of TAA to shade the light of the lack of data accuracy in several leading databases of scholarly impacts. This research also gives a clear direction for further research regarding industry 4.0 and Indonesia's smart agriculture concept application.

PurposeThis study examines two crucial aspects of employability in the tourism industry, with a particular emphasis on contemporary advancements. The first aspect pertains to the emerging demands in the employability sector of the tourism industry, driven by technological advancements. Given the evident nature of this emerging trend, it is imperative to possess a robust infrastructure and comprehensive knowledge. The second aspect is to evaluate the level of education that industry employees receive in relation to the tourism sector in order to ensure sustainable development.Design/methodology/approachThe study employed a thematic literature review to evaluate the significance of tourism education on employability and the necessity of adopting technology.FindingsThe findings deviate from the extensive literature search showed that Higher Education Institutions should prioritise ensuring that the new generation’s technological capabilities align with the traditional curricula in their respective fields, given the widespread use of personal computers and smartphones. Ultimately, students are increasingly expecting that technology will significantly impact their educational experiences and modes of communication for their future careers.Practical implicationsIt is widely acknowledged that the most efficient approach to fostering learning is to exert authority over the learning setting, and educators should generate learning prospects for students rather than merely transmitting information and facts.Originality/valueThis review assesses two key aspects of employability in the tourism industry, focussing on recent technological advancements and the necessary skills for students' future careers.

Effect of IT Investment Announcement on Company Value: Evidence from Indonesia Stock Exchange

This study examines the effect of IT investment on company value in the Indonesian Stock Exchange. The method used is the event study analysis. The beta used to calculate abnormal returns are the traditional beta and the corrected beta of Dimson and Scholes-Williams given that the Indonesian market is a thin trading market. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of IT investment announcements on firm value on the post-event window. The results also show that investors tend to react positively to IT investment announcements made by companies in 2020 thus suggesting that the occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic has effectively affected investors in processing new information regarding technology investments made by companies. The study is expected to provide benefits to assist policy making on Indonesia Stock Exchange and Capital Market and Financial Institutions Supervisory Agency (Bapepam-LK) regarding the disclosure of company information on the implementation of IT investments.
