Industry 4.0: Smart Scheduling

Abstract: Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 production environments integrate the physical and decisional aspects of manufacturing processes into autonomous and decentralised systems. One of the main aspects in these systems is production planning, in particular scheduling operations on machines. We introduce here a new decision-making schema, Smart Scheduling, intended to yield flexible and efficient production schedules on the fly, taking advantage of the features of these new environments. The ability to face unfo… Show more

“…The relationships constructed above are explained in detail, as follows: Equation (14) ensures the finishing time of each job. Equation (15) ensures that all jobs which are allocated to PO g arrive between the planned time horizon T and maximum due date of all jobs of the respective production order. Equation (16) ensures that all jobs are completed within their maximum due date.…”

“…Hence, the scheduling research needs to shift its focus to real-time and smart scheduling and product-flow optimization [13]. In this regard, Industry 4.0, with its powerful real-time data capturing technology enablers like radio-frequency identification (RFID), machine data, multiple sensors, network gateways, and others, can bridge the serious gap between reality on the PSF and the offline scheduling algorithms or mathematical models [4,14,15].Integrating Industry 4.0 in manufacturing systems provides the advantage of real-time tracking and monitoring of the entities of manufacturing systems [14,16]. Moreover, Industry 4.0 provides the ability of identifying, tracking, communicating, and controlling smart entities such as jobs, machines, tools, fixtures, workers, and other resources along the value stream in the lean manufacturing environment.…”

“…In the context of the providing correction of the retirement age, as well as the active discussion of other proposals, many people give comments, making inaccuracies (Hagemann & Scherger, 2016;Hu, 2019;Grodem & Hippe, 2019;Alcacer & Cruz-Machado, 2019;Rossit, Tohme, & Frutos, 2019). In this regard, some positions characterizing the pension system of the Russian Federation should be considered:…”
