“…A further topic of continued studies in ICP-OES is the features of axial viewing versus radial viewing (138). In the treatment of the spectra, the features of wavelet smoothing have been studied (139), and as an alternative to spectrometers, the use of visible acoustooptic tunable filter hyperspectral imaging has been studied (140). The maturity of ICP-OES is well demonstrated by its use for the identification of metal concentration fluctuations in wasteto-energy plant flue gases (141).…”

“…The ability of a cooled Wu-Hieftje vertical-rotary spray chamber to reduce oxide species in ICP-TOFMS was investigated by Wetzel et al (244). Cooling the spray chamber from 20 to 5 °C yielded a 20% reduction in the interfering oxide level of 140 -Ce 16 O + on 156 Gd + without compromising detection limits. A corresponding decrease in the background-equivalent concentrations of the interfering species was also observed.…”

“…AOTFs are expensive and complex. The bandpass of the diffracted light is strongly dependent on the wavelength . In imaging applications, two aberrations are observed with AOTFs: image blur and image shift .…”

“…The bandpass of the diffracted light is strongly dependent on the wavelength. 6 In imaging applications, two aberrations are observed with AOTFs: image blur and image shift. 7 A well-designed AOTF and the addition of an appropriate prism can compensate for most of these aberrations.…”

“…Although the NAZ has been defined as a broad region extending from 0-20 mm from the load coil 97 , the ICP properties of Ar and He vary, resulting in differently shaped NAZ zones especially when considering the response of Mg. For Mg an entirely Ar ICP produces a distinct maximum, suggesting a more discrete normal analytical zone (NAZ). In addition, maximum intensities were recorded in the center both horizontally and vertically, for an Ar environment.…”
