“…The PL germicidal effect has been mainly attributed to the damage in microbial DNA induced by the UV-C portion of the light spectrum (photochemical effect), and/or to localized overheating of cells (photothermal effect) and/or to structural damage (photophysical effect) (Gómez-López et al, 2007;Romero-Bernal et al, 2019).
