“…The test results show good correlations with mammalian test systems (Leme and Marin-Morales, 2009). Oreochromis niloticus (Nile tilapia) has been used as the bioindicator organism for genotoxicity evaluations of surface waters based on in vivo erythrocytic micronucleus tests or/and erythrocyte based comet assay (Osman et al, 2012, Fuzinatto et al, 2013. This tropical fish species is a practically feasible aquatic model especially in developing countries for screening genotoxic potential of surface water and treated water prior to distribution for drinking purposes.…”
