Indonesian Experience with Financial Sector Reform

Abstract: Indonesian Experience with Financial Sector Reform Since the early 1980s Indonesia has been engaged in serious efforts to reform the financial system, and thereby stimulate sounder economic growth. This paper discusses the nature of the specific reforms carried out in Indonesia, the environment in which they were undertaken and, most importantly, their effects on the real economy. It finds that a fairly standard, phased series of reforms led to large, sustained increases in financial savings, increases in real… Show more

“…A coaxial injector, which consisted of a straight tee with an insert of 254 m capillary tube to enhance the mass transfer between the injected supercritical fluid and polymer solution, was replaced the original one. It is known as the solution enhanced dispersion by supercritical fluids (SEDS), first developed by Hanna [22]. A series of experiments, which is given as runs #1-#12 in Table 1, was conducted with two different injection units of carbon dioxide.…”

“…They can be classified in two groups: supercritical antisolvent processes and supercritical assisted atomization techniques. The first group of processes uses CO 2 as the supercritical antisolvent and is represented by discontinuous processes like gas antisolvent (GAS) [2,3] and by semi-continuous processes like supercritical antisolvent (SAS) [4][5][6][7], solution enhanced dispersion by supercritical fluids (SEDS) [8,9] and aerosol solvent extraction system (ASES) [10]. The second group includes the processes that produce an enhancement of the atomization solubilizing supercritical CO 2 in molten solids (particles from gas saturated solution, PGSS) [11,12], mixing it in liquid solutions (carbon dioxide assisted nebulization with a bubble dryer, CAN-BD) [13,14] or solubilizing it in liquid solutions (supercritical assisted atomization, SAA) [15][16][17].…”

“…The channeling of savings to borrowers either through savings in banks or through lending in informal markets is crucial to understanding how the financial system in a given country is put together. In this sprit, Hanna (1994), for example, provides for Indonesia a stimulating review of the sequencing of macro/financial reforms and correlations with savings, credit, and investment. This also distinguishes private and government sector banks.…”
