“…Long work hours do not appear to have a direct impact on men's marital relationships, but are associated with greater father-child conflict (Crouter, Bumpus, Head & McHale, 2001). Several studies also suggest that longer work hours are associated with high accident rates on and off work (Kirkcaldy, Trimpop & Levine, 2002;Lilly, Feyer, Kirk & 25 Gander;Trimpop, Kirkcaldy, Athanasou & Cooper, 2000). Long work hours cuts down on the time available for leisure and social activities and is expected to be a stressor that is associated with higher mental health service use.…”
