“…These results suggest the presence of the original functional groups of GQDs [ 27 , 35 ]. Similarly, the deconvoluted O 1s spectrum shows the Er–O bonds at 531.8 and 530.9 eV ( Figure 3 d), which were assigned as the linkage between the Er and O elements in the Er-GQD/HPB [ 36 ]. In addition, the other two peaks, at 533.6 and 532.7 eV, are the carboxylic C=O and O−H groups, respectively.…”

“…Z-scheme degradation of levofloxacin has also been reported with an efficiency of 90.8% in 70 minutes of irradiation on Sm 6 WO 12 /g-C 3 N 4 nanocomposite through • O 2 − and • OH as the main ROSs [74] . Moreover, ciprofloxacin degradation was accomplished with an indirect Z-scheme Bi 2 MoO 6 /g-C 3 N 4 with nitrogen doped carbon dots as the electron mediator [75] . The Z-scheme mechanism was proved with ESR and radical trapping experiments while the effect of solution pH, initial concentration of CIP, catalyst dosage, and inorganic anions and organic matters were studied.…”

“…Pharmaceutical wastes are among the emerging environmental contaminants that pose health risks to humans due to their toxicity and recalcitrant nature to treatment especially by traditional water treatment methods. Thus, quests for successful mitigation processes to achieve the complete remediation of this emerging class of pollutants from the environment and water have resorted to AOPs of which EF is a subset. EF has recently been applied in the removal of various pharmaceuticals and bacteria in effluent water in Colombia by Martínez and co-authors . More similar work in the degradation of pharmaceuticals in wastewater was reported by Emeji and colleagues in the removal of antiretroviral drugs, while Wang and co-authors used EF in separate work for the removal of ciprofloxacin and an antibiotic (cefoperazone), respectively. , …”
