Kimura disease is a rare disorder of unknown etiology, characterized by the presence of benign subcutaneous granuloma, marked peripheral blood eosinophilia and elevation of the immunglobulin E (IgE) serum level. Here, we present a case of a 12-year-old boy with Kimura disease who had a history of repeated severe influenza virus A infection. Along with the characteristic histological findings of granuloma, including eosinophil infiltration, enzyme-linked immunospot assay showed elevated numbers of IL-5- and IL-10-producing cells in the peripheral blood. Immunohistochemical evaluation, however, did not detect IL-5 in the tissue. Possible cytokine dysregulation in Kimura disease was suggested, but the pathogenesis remains unclear.

A rare association of Kimura’s disease with chronic pulmonary aspergillosis

Kimura’s disease is a rare chronic benign inflammatory condition characterised by nodules of skin and soft tissue and lymphnodes. Eosinophilic infiltration is a prominent finding. It has been reported in association with various conditions like nephrotic syndrome, bronchial asthma, ulcerative colitis and aortitis syndrome. Hereby we present a case in medical literature to the best of our knowledge in Kimura’s disease in association with chronic cavitary pulmonary aspergillosis, which has never been reported. He was treated with antifungals, after which he responded clinically, eosinophilia has subsided and he is under regular follow up. Now This case report suggest possible role of chronic aspergillosis as a cause for Kimura’s disease.

Kimura Disease of the Breast - A Previously Undescribed Entity

Kimura disease (KD) is a rare chronic inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology, primarily seen in young Asian males. The disease is characterized by a triad of painless subcutaneous masses in the head and neck region, blood and tissue eosinophilia, and elevated serum immunoglobulin E levels. We report an unusual case of a 40-year-old woman found to have KD of the breast which presented clinically as carcinoma, leading to a diagnostic dilemma. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of KD in the breast to be documented in the literature. The patient also had scabies, which may have provided the stimulus for hypersensitivity, which is considered to be the pathogenetic mechanism responsible for development of KD.
